greymack Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 (edited) Hey guys just wondering what is the favored brand of paint for model bodies? Edited September 28, 2011 by greymack
MachinistMark Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Dupont for paint duplicolour for primer pro form for clear
Pete J. Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 DuPont Velvaseal for primer and Lucite for base coat and Chromaclear for top coat.
Mooneyzs Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I am a PPG DBC & OMNI Base Coats, House of Kolor Base Coats. & PPG's Concept Urathane clear Type of guy.
Lownslow Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 nason urethane for primer, paint anything as long as the clear is Matrix Urethane
lowriderphil Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 As I am not set up for airbrushing right now I like to stick with dupli-color and plasti-kote spray cans, and the occasional testor's one coat
tabsscale1 Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I use what ever suits my fancy at the time. Use duplicolor for primer on all projects though. I just shot an eurothane over some HOK which wasshot over a basecoat of duplicolor. Only paint i have not liked is the Tamiya paintsHad better luck with Testors enamels than i ever did with the Tamiya paints.
Chas SCR Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Du Pont for every thing! Will be using BASF for one project that is being built now.
Tonioseven Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Scalefinishes first, then fingernail polish.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I agree, I don't have a particular favorite, but I do return to consistent good results using Vallejo, Tamiya, Floquil, House of Kolor, Auto Air . . . Always use the same primer: PLASTIKOTE Always use the same clear: DuPont Acrylic Spot Clear.
robertw Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Tamiya Lacquer is my first choice every time. Out of the rattle can it produces a very clean spray but is also easy to decant and then can be used through the airbrush. Their Fine White Primer is also my first choice in that department. I'd like to try some of the specialty paints such as MCW etc but they can't be obtained in my part of Canada. Rob
