charlie8575 Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 You know how often you actually use your fingernail(s) while working on model cars. Like pressing down bare metal foil, scraping off that tiny bit of excess glue or putty, press down on a piece of sandpaper while sanding a tight spot, the like. Well, my fingernails are usually too short for this kind of stuff, so I got me a pack of ten artificial fingernails from the beauty section in the supermarket for a quid or so. They also can be filed to any shape you need. I'll have one of my girl friends pick those up. I have a hard enough time getting a date, the last thing I need to do is send mixed messages! von Zipper Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 This is kind of backwards, using a modeling tool for every day life. So between this thread being 3 pages back and the talk about ladys fake finger nails- I thought I'd throw this out there. I've been plagued with ingrown toe nails from years of wearing steel toe work boots. For years I've used Revlon side cutter type nippers to dig them out but some times they are too big and bulky. A few years ago I tried a pair of sprue cutters and found them to work the best-now I have a pair just for that job !!
Dave Ambrose Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 I use an eraser as a sanding block. The drafting types are softer and do a good job on curved items.
