catd11rpusher Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 k I just got my black foil yesterday, I read the directions BUT heres the thing, I'm doing the front molding on my 123 kenworth around the windows. I cut a piece 1.5 long and alittle wider than the window molding, is that correct? you use multipull peices to go around the window? I don,t mean to be stupid but the cats out of the bag, HELP
mackinac359 Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I use multiple pieces. If you tried it with one long piece you'll end up becoming very frustrated. Tim
Howard Cohen Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I always use long thin strips for windshield moldings, then buff the joint smooth with the side of a toothpick.
Foxer Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I do same... strips ... and locate the joints where they are on 1:1 windows.
catd11rpusher Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Well I'm trying small pieces and I have trouble with sticking, I have cleaned it good. I take a 1" piece and put it on the flat area of the winshield, but I;m having trouble with the corners. I use a sharp knife, and tooth picks to try to get it to stick onthe corners but have a lot of trouble. I know practice makes perfect. I feel like a clutsz with 900 lbs hands.

Do you guys recommend the scribing tool that they sell for 10.49 to help or do I really need it?
TurboKitty Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 (edited) I've found that the black BMF does not stick as well as the chrome stuff. If you have some good masking tape, apply that around the windows, smooth it into crevices the best you can w/ a toothpick or Q tip, and use a sharp Xacto blade to carefully trim the tape off of the parts that need to be black. Once this is done, make sure any part that does not need to be black is masked, and then carefully brush or spray on some flat black to the trim that isn't masked off. It will look much better than the black BMF (which is too shiny) and it won't have streaks or reddish/brown tint in it like if you "draw" it on with a black permanent marker. chrismooney Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 BTW the black will rub off if you use a wax or polish on it after its on... be careful
