Monty Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I've got a '67 Impala street machine which I've relegated to its box for over a decade because I can't figure out how to finish it. The original plan was to build it like the picture on the box (blue body & interior) but in various forums and magazines I noticed that the majority of modelers building this kit were doing the exact same thing, so now I'm looking for a way to make mine different from theirs without being garish. The interior is already done in blue and white so I'd like to two-tone the body in those colors as well, but the body lines don't seem conducive to doing that. Has anyone figured out a tasteful way to do this? Important distinction: This will be a '70s-style street machine, not a donk or lowrider, so please keep that in mind with your recommendations.
my name is nobody Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I have a couple of those '67 Impala kits. won them in a trivia contest at a 1:1 car show. never even bothered to open them. not what I usually build. However, recently I looked at a very nice Impala SS at a car show. they are really nice cars. when optioned correctly.
charlie8575 Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Chevrolet offered the two-tone paint confined to the roof in (usually) the lighter color. Perhaps you can use that as the starting point, although getting it work around that fastback roof might be a bit of a challenge. The two-tone paint on the one two-tone '67 I've seen had the paint down to the bottom of the roof pillars and used what look like the vinyl top mouldings to serve as the color break. Charlie Larkin
Darin Bastedo Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 You could combine it with a 1970 Chevy and do one of these...

The Creative Explorer Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 This is a '66 instead of the wanted '67, but I think the scheme (not the roof part) is usuable for you in your colorchoices. I would go for blue on bottom and white on top.
