Dr. Cranky Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I was looking for engines you guys have built and like . . . and I thought this would be a nice thread for others when they do research, for inspiration and ideas . . . Can you please post pictures of your engines, solo or already in the engine bay . . . all models, all types, all subjects . . . THANK YOU!
Dr. Cranky Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 Some engines to do in scale like these would be interesting:
Rob Z Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Well Doc, I am sure your talking about engines we have built but, this 1:1 is my favorite and the car itself is really sweet too... http://bringatrailer...dge-seneca-413/
Rob Z Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Some engines to do in scale like these would be interesting: That first one would be rather interesting and quite the challenge trying to weave those headers like that...
Dr. Cranky Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 I'll take both, engines you've built or pictures of engines you would like to build. Both are good fodder to keep the creative juices flowing. That engine is amazing, and I have to say I've never seen one like that. Thanks, Rob.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 Thanks, Jason, that's a nice engine and it looks great in the bay.
trogdor Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 (edited) Didn't John Terisi just build a 4 engined mustang with a similar layout to the Tommy Ivo dragster ? I can't find the pics but I know he posted them not too long ago ETA Found it http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40887&hl=mustang&fromsearch=1 Edited October 8, 2011 by trogdor
1320wayne Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Here's a couple of shots of the the engine that I built for my pro mod Jeg's Mustang a few years back. 1
Dr. Cranky Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 Wow, Wayne, that's one detailed and beautiful engine. I'm getting ideas already.
1320wayne Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 And just to show that not everything I do has to revolve around racing here is a Ford Flathead that I put into this custom 49 Merc.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 This one needs to be done in model form, wow! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_8G3CB8_4k
Dr. Cranky Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Wow, keep 'em coming, you guys are on a roll! Thank you.
highway Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 I haven't built it yet for the model of my 1:1, mainly because I'm pulling my hair out figuring out how to build it correctly, but it's my 7.3 liter diesel in my 1990 F350. The biggest thing I'm trying to figure out is how to make the Monogram's kit gas engine look close to it, and making the injector pump and modifying the intake so all it has is the massive hole in the middle under the air cleaner that gulps in the air!
Chuck Most Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Probably one of the nuttiest engines I've built- Pontiac OHC Inline six with an exposed timing gear, no air filter, a big, honkin' turbo off an IH diesel, and a shot of nitrous. Probably wouldn't be much as far as longevity goes, but would be a fun ride! and of course there's that oh-so-pointlessly-ornate oil filler cap!
Darin Bastedo Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 This may be overkill, but when I first saw this I was a teenage boy...
Jantrix Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Here's 5 of my favorites that I'm real proud of.
