walt francis Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 It looks like they sanded the body and it was left out in the rain.
jeffs396 Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Looks cool Tom! Please tell us how you got the bare steel / light rust combination
Tom Kren Posted October 15, 2011 Author Posted October 15, 2011 Got the tip from Bobby Boggs he had a trailer that was all rusty very nice thought it was aluminum but it wasnt .He says he turns brakes and the shavings from this he takes home he said paint body, spray some water on it sprinkle some shavings on it and throw it out side for a couple days asked me if i wanted some and said sure i will give it a shot and i did as you can see! Paint is tamya siver leaf . Thanks Bobby if your readding this!
Chuck Most Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Ah, untreated nekkid steel! I've been thinking of doing a project 'finished' this way. I do have access to steel shavings from a brake lathe, now that I think of it!
jeffs396 Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Thanks for sharing the tip Tom. Can't wait to bury something in steel shavings
W-409 Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 That looks real good. Rusting is great. These Rat Rods are always really interesting to see, keep us posted.
