allegheny Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Is there a model kit with a 440 6-pack motor that will fit a Revell 1/25 Pro Modeler 1969 Charger? Thanks! Paul
george 53 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Sure! Just take the motor that's in the AMT 69 GTX. It'll drop right into the Chargers engine bay an be factory correct. But I'm not sure if Dodge ever made a 440 6Pak Charger though.
allegheny Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 Yeah, George your right! I just thought it would look cool under the hood! Thanks! Paul
Keef Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 or revell 71 GTX if im not mistaken that kit is 1/24 scale isnt it?
whale392 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 take the intake, carbs, and air cleaner from the AMT 1970 Super Bee kit and fit them to the Revell engine. Both kits are 1/25th scale.
scale trucker Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 dodge made 440 plus 6 cars in 1970..like a u code 70 chargher..
ChrisPflug Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 "V" was the code for a 440 six pack Plenty installed on non- orginal applications The AMT Duster 340 has a nice set of carbs, the 69 GTX/ 70 Super Bee a decent intake
allegheny Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 Thanks guys for all the great responses! Paul
Casey Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Sure! Just take the motor that's in the AMT 69 GTX. Wouldn't work, as that would be a 440 6-BBL engine, being in/from a Plymouth.
george 53 Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Kasey, I've changed enough real ones to know it WILL fit, NO modifications. The models are just glue in, no mods either. The engines don't know what car they're put in, A Chrysler 440 out of a motor home will fit into a 69 Charger, I know, cause I did it.
whale392 Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Perhaps you missed Caseys humor, George (guess his emoticon didn't give it away huh?). Chrysler Corp autos have shared engine configurations/platforms since 1951. That included Plymouth, Dodge, Desoto, Chrysler, and Imperial. With a k-member change (un-needed from 1971-up) we swapped a 1969.5 440+6 into my 1965 Dodge Coronet500 Convertible. original engine was a Poly 318. We just swapped a friends 1973 Challenger from a 318 to a 440 without having to change the k-member too. If we REALLY want to get crazy with the cheeze-whiz, you can turn an early Poly (1951-roughly 58) into a Hemi with a head/intake swap!
Casey Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Perhaps you missed Caseys humor, George (guess his emoticon didn't give it away huh?). Actually, you missed it, too, Brad. I was joking about the fact that Plymouth labelled the intake setup as "6BBL" while Dodge referred to it as "6 PACK" in the '69 A-12 Road Runner/Super Bee cars. Same engine, different decals and nomenclature. In all seriousness, the current '70 Super Bee kits should do the trick as a intake and carb donor.
Edsel-Dan Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Especially since the Engine & rolling chassis are Directly from the 68 Road Runner/69 GTX. I have both the recent Nostalgia box art 70 Super Bee, & an Original Annual. Too bad the Police &street machine options are not in the Retro-Re-issue. I notice a difference in the grill too.
whale392 Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 (edited) Ok Casey, you got me too! Never really gave the nonemclature a second thought as to who called it what, but you are right! And even I didn't go all the way back to when the Dodge Brothers purchased Graham Truck only to be purchased by Walter P. Chrysler a few years later. The lines under the Chrysler banner have shared drivetrain configurations since 1926. Edited October 22, 2011 by whale392
