martinfan5 Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I am not sure what I am going to do with this one yet, while i am figuring out what I am going to do, I decided to get the engine and interior painted. I did a couple of things to the body, I tried to correct the rear wheel openings, I am not sure how close I got them, I used the 70 wheel well openings as a template. I also opened up the trunk

Haubenschild Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 What are going to do with yours?, I also have the 69 RR to go this one I might convert it into an A12 rodarunner, but im not sure
martinfan5 Posted October 27, 2011 Author Posted October 27, 2011 Here is a small update, Interior is done and the engine is as well, I need to add the top part of of the air cleaner.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 I love the looks of this one already. Keep it going, please.
george 53 Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 (edited) I've done this conversion a few times now, an other than some slight trimming on the stock JoHan interior to clear the AMT rear wheelwells, you can get away with useing the JoHan interior, IF you want. All JoHan 69 thru 70 Mopars, and MPC based 68 thru 70b body kits can use the AMT chassis with VERY LITTLE modifications. This is a GREAT easy conversion.Your doin great and you will be ALOT happier with the results! Edited October 28, 2011 by george 53
martinfan5 Posted October 30, 2011 Author Posted October 30, 2011 Have not got a lot done, but I did get the trunk hinged, I also covered up the gas tank opening as well, so now that its all done I can move on to getting it painted, just need to decided on a color. I am going with a set mopar steelies on this build , just need to order them soon.
martinfan5 Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 The wheels I am going to use came today, I am going to use a set of mopar steel wheels, I got the from scenes unlimited , very nice set of resin wheels
Funkster Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I wish that one of model companys would make a 1/16 or 1/12 road runner/GTX model.
martinfan5 Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 I got some work done on this one, I would be a little farther along but I screwed while painting the body so I had to strip it, then when i was ready to respray, we had some weather come thru bring wind and rain. I was able to get some paint down today, did some mist/light coats, I need to do some sanding and then do the wet coats. The chassis is done, I added the brake lines, and thinking about adding the fuel line . I also added so styrene to the wheel backs so the wheels will sit farther out like they should.
martinfan5 Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 Well I am not sure if I am ever going to get this one finished, I have been having nothing but problems getting it painted. Now I know its not all my fault is I have been trying to use kyrlon yellow and I have been building up the layers with light coats. when I go to do the wet coat it craze's I think is the term. So this is the fifth time I have had to strip it. I have almost gone thru the entire can of paint. I do have some tamyia yellow, but I dont know if there is enough in the can to do one more paint job. I could use a different color but I would have to take a part the chassis and repaint it as well and I dont want to do that. :banghead: This is why I only use krylon very rare now. I like that shade of yellow that it is, for some reason I have been having problems painting all the sudden.
martinfan5 Posted November 19, 2011 Author Posted November 19, 2011 I have got the body repainted, after trying to paint it yellow I think seven times, I gave up on yellow and went with tamyia gunmetal. So that meant taking apart the chassis as well.
