MachinistMark Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 definatly. its got a very "Art car" vibe goin on.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 Yes, it does . . . at least it will be a different model in the collection . . . Tomorrow I plan on making another push for the finish line, which I hope is this weekend.
rustybill1960 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011   OUCH!!!! All this eye-candy hurts!!! BEAUTIFUL MAN!!! Thank You for sharing!! Later Russ
Harry P. Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I smoke COROJO #3 and #5s (toros) and I get them from FAMOUS CIGARS in Pennsylvania. Hmmmm... I always figured you were smoking something else...
Dr. Cranky Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 LOL! It's all in the smoke! I can see how this ride could be painful, but let's see what it looks like by the end.
Nitrozilla Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Virgil, I love the Mummy tape idea, but I'd use it for the seats or maybe a roll for the roof like John did on the Pancho Villa build. Whatever you decide, we're all behind you. If an actual Mummy shows up, we'll be even further behind you.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 Joe, I like the top idea! Thanks, buddy.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 Thanks, Tony. I should be hitting the bench shortly. Lots to do still on this build.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 The work is coming real slow today, lots of detail work . . . I should have some more pics soon. Stay tuned in . . .
LAone Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 nice to see this one pop back up doc. the paint is looking pretty sweet keep up with the eye candy
GrandpaMcGurk Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Great build Virgil, ya know, I was just thinking (scary as that is) if you took some of that stretchy, stick to it-self bandage ( the stretchy gauze stuff they use to wrap a gauze patch on your arm after they draw blood) cut it in thin strips and wrapped up a couple of plastic figures, you could make your own mummy chauffeur and body guards.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 Love the idea, Don. I gotta look into it . . . I think that would look cool!
Darren B Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 wow another awesome build hit out of the park, love the colors on this one.....
Dr. Cranky Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Thanks, Darren, there'll be lots more progress tomorrow.
crazyjim Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I gotta tell you Cranky - you are one sick puppy! But the build is gorgeous.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Yes, sick with severe Styrene Addiction! LOL!
Dr. Cranky Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 All right, my friends, a bit more progress . . . but like I said earlier, this one is one of the more complicated paint jobs I've done in a while, and I am still working on the paint . . . so many details . . . Here are some progress shots of the build mocked up . . . nothing is glued down yet, so I can handle the basic components and paint, wash, etc . . . . All the trim is now in gold, getting ready for a wash to bring out the details . . . there are so many little skulls all over this thing . . . I'm also trying to bring out different colors, but still getting the whole thing to look like one--does that make sense?
Dr. Cranky Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 The airbrush has been a wonderful tool to touch up all the little mistakes, and it is working towards unifying this build . . . You can see how the wash is going to work on the little scarab skulls on the fender . . . I am using Vallejo Acrylic wash black with a little brown in it . . . that after it dries you can clean up around the edges with a Q-tip moistened with a bit of water and alcohol! Here are the basic components painted and read for the wash . . . and so many other details . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 I saved the engine for last, although I still have to wire and plumb it and make sure everything fits tight. Again, the 34 Ford is a swell kit, and I love it. It's really crept up into my top 10 list, that's for sure. Here's a detail shot of the trim painted in gold, awaiting the dark wash . .. The dash is also done and in place . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 And last but not least I added muffler tips cut out of aluminum tubing, which is easy enough to do and it give the chassis a completed look . . . And once again the build broken down into its basic components . . . I feel like I still have a ways to go, but we are getting closer . . . and this one is going to get a special base built for it, I can feel it . . . the ideas are coming! Stay tuned in for more progress . . .
John Teresi Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Dr. ........the details are FANTASTIC!!!!!......and the colors man, they POP!!!!!!
Dr. Cranky Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Thanks, John, yes, this one is coming along nice, but slow . . . sometimes I think way too slow for my own OCD brain! Stay tuned in for more . . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 The next round of detailing is underway, and it's fun, fun, fun . . . Stay tuned in and thanks for all the support and comments . . .
Nitrozilla Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 This just keeps getting better and better. Each detail compliments the other and the theme is in balance with the universe. I wish I could see what's runnin' around in that brain pan of yours. Then again, I'm off the wall enough myself.......
