Mazdat Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Hi everyone!!! I brand new to this site, I'm at other model sites as well. I'm looking forward to talking with you guys. Well, here's one of my projects I'm working on...among others, its a Revell 49 Merc kit, I started by by cutting the roof and trunk off the body and lowering it just a little, the front pillars got cut too, slanted the B-pillars and windows, and added eyebrows the the headlights.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I am always amazed how you folks do body work. Outstanding. Keep it going.
62rebel Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 i'd go with flush-fitting skirts on this style.... just me. those break up the flow imho.
Alyn Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Nice body work. Love how your subtle changes make such a cool difference.
Jantrix Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I'd like to know what you are using for filler. And what did you make the eyebrows from?
Dr. Cranky Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I keep returning to this one hoping you are making progress. This thing has my utmost attention. Thank you.

Mazdat Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 i'd go with flush-fitting skirts on this style.... just me. those break up the flow imho. I'm debating either to go with flush skirts or the big skirts with the spears. What do you think? Nice body work. Love how your subtle changes make such a cool difference. Thanx!!! Well now, this is looking cool! Thanx!!!
Mazdat Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 I'd like to know what you are using for filler. And what did you make the eyebrows from? I used all CA glue for the eyebrows...no filler, I used a little bit of filler on the side windows and C-pillars, not much though.
Mazdat Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 I keep returning to this one hoping you are making progress. This thing has my utmost attention. Thank you. Thanx Dr.Cranky!!! I'm doing progress on this. Next, I'm frenching the tail lights, and frenched antennas. I'll post more pics with the progress
62rebel Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 do a set of both! put them on with white glue and see which ones look right to you. if you use the bubble skirts, try to flatten the bulge along the bottom edge a bit; i think Revell accentuated it a tad too much.

I'll do that Rebel, I think both will look good , but one has to look better that the other one Edited November 1, 2011 by Mazdat
Wagoneer81 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I really like what you did with the B-pillars! Reworking them to mimic the C-pillars was an awesome idea. Makes the car seem to 'flow' more than with the vertical pillars. I like it so much, I'm going to steal that design element when I build mine...

It gives it a different look to it, I did the same to my 51 Fleetline, the roof was so damaged from a previous chop attempt (not mine), I wanted the 51 to look different, here's a pic of it...
surfjunke Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Nice work. like the "b" pillar design. Should be a very cool car.
Greg Pugh Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I'm watching for sure. I like everything I'm seeing so far.
Mazdat Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 What do you guys think of these skirts? I'm debating to go with big bubble skirts or these, what do you guys suggest?
mr.camaro Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Option 3 has got my vote. Very different merc. Lovin it!
