SSNJim Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Very nice. I really like the front end. Do you have any pictures showing the grill better? Is that an original custom?
Eshaver Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Some real talent here ....................... Ed Shaver
LDO Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Very nice. I really like the front end. Do you have any pictures showing the grill better? Is that an original custom? It was a show car in the 1950s and '60s. http://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=X-Sonic
lizzard Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 Some real talent here ....................... Ed Shaver Not really , just painted a resin kit but thanks ..
Dr. Cranky Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Very cool. I love the look, and the wheels!
Mike Kucaba Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Very nice! I've had that one in primer for years now. Just can't get into finishing it.
lizzard Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Very nice! I've had that one in primer for years now. Just can't get into finishing it. Throw the bubble away cause it sucks. Go to the craft store (I went to acmoore) and they have clear , 2 piece xmas balls for .68
SSNJim Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 It was a show car in the 1950s and '60s. http://www.kustomram...p?title=X-Sonic I had my suspicions it might be; it just had that look. Thanks for the link! It was interesting reading. I still like the model. Very eye-catching.
Danno Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Interesting car (the 1:1); more interesting build. Good job, Dave!
Mike Kucaba Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 "Throw the bubble away cause it sucks. Go to the craft store (I went to acmoore) and they have clear , 2 piece xmas balls for .68 " The bubble hasn't been a problem with mine, but finessing the interior and chassis has,not to mention one of the many paint schemes the car had over it's life span. I did pick-up another one at a show that was cast a little better. You're build has inspired me to look it over again and see if my skills have improved over the years to fix what was bothering me.
surfjunke Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Really nice clean build of a really unique custom. It came out really cool.

Its a kinda ruff one . mine had a crease in the bubble, useless. And you are correct , The interior is a scratch builders job.
Mike Kucaba Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Weeelll... if I ever get back to my 1/16th Predicta.... I do have an MPC 1/16th '57 Corvette kit waiting in the wings.
Nate Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Interesting bit of trivia I learned form The Rodder's Journal article a few issues back - this was the first car with hydraulics for raising and lowering the car. He got tired of getting tickets for being too low when it was his daily driver (before the bubble top) and he used a hand pump to raise and lower it when cops tried to write him a ticket. Also possibly the first bubble top, but according to the article, this is also debatable.
lizzard Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 nice, but it needs fades or panels Build yours with fades, This is one of the 50 paint jobs this car had. This is THE Lowrider.
customsrus Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 looks good to me in any color. I like your build lets see what you do next.
