VooDooCC Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 This isn't mine, but a question for my father in law, so I'm not sure the specifics. This is on a ship, but the problems are paint related. He tried using a spray can, but it didn't come out right, so he wiped that down and airbrushed some black. Not sure if it was model master or createx, as he has both, thinned with future. put down some masking then tried brushing testors acryl clear (a tip he got from somewhere) to help seal from paint bleading. Every stroke of the clear made the paint active again and start to smear and even run a little. My guess was that the black wasn't dry before applying the clear. He said he let it dry for 2 days, so I'm wondering what your thoughts are. Thanks, Justin
stulee11 Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 it sounds like a reaction with the paints i aint no expert but i had some thing like that when i was working as a auto spray painter
Draggon Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I had a similar problem using Tamiya Dark Bronze for the color coat and Duplicolor clear for the gloss. I didnt figure it out and stripped the body, thinking to use Model Master Acrylic Gloss. I'm sorta surprised at the reaction he has using the same brand of paint.
MikeMc Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 It was thinned with Future..... Why?? I suspect it was the issue...I also wouldn't mix anything with Createx except their thinner
Art Anderson Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 I suspect that waterborne acrylics can be penetrated by additional coats of the same basic carrier--in much the same manner as lacquers behave.
VooDooCC Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 It was thinned with Future..... Why?? I suspect it was the issue...I also wouldn't mix anything with Createx except their thinner I got this tip from when I was painting radio control bodies, a lot of people on those forums highly recommend it, some said it works better than the createx thinner.
