surfjunke Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I just finished these for a client. These were both built box stock. This 212 Coupe was one of two that ran the Carrera Panamericana in 1951. The Resin kit was made by Modeli Verona. The 712 Can Am is an older white metal kit from Mini Racing.
Modelmartin Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Nice build work there. I like the 212. I must say that Miniracing made that 712 actually look like a go-kart!! The early Miniracing kits were execrable globs of whitemetal. they improved a lot over the years and actually tackled some interesting and obscure subjects. I am building one of their kits right now - a Mini-Marcos from Lemans.
Crazy Ed Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Wow, a 712p Ferrari. Now that's a subject one isn't going to see everyday! Scott nice job on that Kit. It was too bad in the day that Ferrari didn't have the resources or interest to make a serious effort in the CanAm series.
surfjunke Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 Thank you very much for the comments. Hi Andy, I just received some decals so I can start on a Mini Racing Ford C100 in Jagermeister Markings.
Lou N Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Scott, Beautiful builds. Does Modeli Verona have a website? I would like to see what else they have in 1/43. Thanks, Lou
surfjunke Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) G'Day Lou, Sorry to say, Modelli Verona is long gone. Too many of these very small operations did not last very long. It is too bad because they made some really nice kits. The best place I know of to look for current kits & accessories is Grand Prix Models in England. As far as older used kits, EBay is a great place to look. I have bought quite a few 1/43rd's from EBay over the years. Edited November 17, 2011 by surfjunke
Nick F40 Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 love both of these, in model form here, and in 1:1, very beautifully done
Lou N Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Thanks Scott. Too bad about Modeli Verona, but it's tough for the cottage industry guys. Take care, Lou
