robertburns Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) Hello Everyone, I just bought an AMT Movin' On W-925 to kitbash for parts on a spaceship model I'm working on. I don't want to waste the rest of the kit and would like to do something cool with it. I know very little about truck modeling. Any ideas would be appreciated. The parts that will be missing are: Engine (okay since I will glue the hood shut) driveshafts side air cleaners a few crossmembers one wheel inner and outer Also, are there any parts from this kit that are worth anything to other builders? The nose or sleeper? I cast parts and could easily throw a part in to get molded. Thank you in advance. Edited November 27, 2011 by robertburns
highway Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 If you don't want to waste the parts you aren't using, which sound like everything but the parts you listed, I'd be interested in them to restore an old built up I have.

I'd like to so something with the overall model, but what do you need? If it's something I can spare, I might be able to give them to you.
highway Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Thanks Sandy, but like I said, I'd need just about everything you didn't list. The one I was hoping to restore was in worse shape than I first thought and is pretty much parts.
martinfan5 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 melt down all the rest of the kit and make one giant plastic ball , just kidding, find the rest a good home
cowboysevens Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 i would say rebuild the truck and any parts you need im sure can be found here on the forum
scummy Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I'm interested in how he used a cummins motor in a space ship ? Would'nt they use magnetic polarity for propulsion ? How many deisel stops are in space ?

mackinac359 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 If the other parts are new, not an old built up, then someone could combine the Kenworth K123 COE kit with these parts and make a nice W925. Guest Johnny Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) I could use it with the partial kit I got and almost have a complete model! I'm thinking on using the KW cab with the Pete Wrecker chassis right now. Edited November 27, 2011 by Johnny

Tim Hey Tim, the parts are new. When it's combined with parts from a K123, would it be converted into a different type of W925? What do I do about the missing air cleaner? I'm not a truck guy, so I don't know all the various conversions. Thanks
mackinac359 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 A resin air cleaner or swap ones from another kit, make some new tubes. KW's were available with the square Farr dry-type air cleaner from the AMT Road Boss/Diamond Reo. I think Dave Natale has these in resin? Tim
Wagoneer81 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 That part #12 looks like the engine halves from a Monogram 1926 AC Mack...
Wagoneer81 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Also the Hawk Air cleaner Hosted on Fotki I see lunar lander parts on this part... I love Greeblies and Sci-Fi modeling!
robertburns Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 (edited) That part #12 looks like the engine halves from a Monogram 1926 AC Mack... Good Eye Wagoneer81! I see lunar lander parts on this part... I love Greeblies and Sci-Fi modeling! Correct again. They're lunar landers from the 1/144th scale Airfix Saturn V. I love it too. The research is part of the fun when making these models. Edited November 29, 2011 by robertburns
robertburns Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 After much deliberation (and sifting through this section), I've decided to use these parts and make a more accurate Movin On Kenworth. There's a lot of excellent information on the board. The only thing better is the quality of the models and modelers. Here's what I've learned so far from the threads: Pilot version: Nose From AMT Cab From Revell Germany Chassis From AMT - Shorten (not sure how much yet, but will research it) Sleeper 36" From AMT Engine VT903 from International Transtar or resin cast the NCT 350 from this AMT kit Tanks From AMT - Shorten (not sure how much yet, but will research it) Battery Boxes Not sure yet - maybe from Revell Germany Stack and Breather From Revell Germany - Passenger side only Front Wheels From AMT Rear Wheels Budd 5 Hole wheels - (resin only?) Rear Suspension Torsion Bar from the Watkins W925 or resin Front Suspension From AMT Front Bumper From Revell Germany Decals Not sure yet Series version: Nose From AMT Cab From Revell Germany Chassis From Revell Germany (not sure if it's stock length yet) Sleeper 60" From Revell Germany Engine VT903 from International Transtar or resin cast the NCT 350 from AMT kit Tanks From AMT Battery Boxes Not sure yet - maybe from Revell Germany Stack and Breather From Revell Germany Front Wheels From Revell Germany ? Rear Wheels From Revell Germany ? Rear Suspension Torsion Bar from the Watkins W925 or resin Front Suspension From AMT Front Bumper From Revell Germany Decals Not sure yet Thanks everyone, Rob
