Magic Photos Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Got the Willys back out after almost a year and started back on it. I still need to clean it real good. I test fitted the rear end and trans ( Bruno Lenco ) first try at making this trans it still needs to be finished. Flashpoint did a great job on this body need to get back to it. Hope I can keep up with all the great builders on here. Mike Garland ]
Prostreet Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Nice work Mike, Glad to see you got it back out. looking foreward to an update.
tyrone Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Looks good Mike glad to see you back on this one...
Mooneyzs Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Mike this is looking great and you are doing a killer job on it. I am glad you pulled this build back out. I look forward to seeing more progress on this build. I will be following along.
comp1839 Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 good to see this car back, mike. can you refresh us on the build sheet? keep up the great work.
Magic Photos Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 Got a little more work done today on the Bruno Lenco trans. Got the air lines added and the push buttons on the shifter tower. Started on the fire bottles and started the flywheel. Some work not a lot. More later. Mike thanks for looking
Mooneyzs Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Looking good Mike. Nice detail on the transmission. Got to ask is the flywheel made out of aluminum or plastic. Keep up the great work on this.
Magic Photos Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 The flywheel is plastic, but I think I am going to use a watch gear so I will have the teeth on it, still have to mak the toque converter. I will cheat on the converter the only place to look is on Comp 1839's page his work is great. Mike
eviltwincustoms Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 (edited) Sounds like Mike is the man with the plan, because that is what I was eyeing to use for the Fly Wheel as well... With the Torque converter mounted up to it, you wont see the holes. Roughly a 17mm antique watch gear should work.... there are some nice ones with a Spun aluminum/steel finish with the teeth. I have a bunch of different sizes ranging from 5mm up to 17mm that I have to play with. Hit up ebay and look for the Steampunk Watch stuff and they even have some really flat gears that could be used for just about anything. My thoughts are to use some for the Timing Gears in the front cover... A little extreme, but should be fun to play with. In addition to building out a full blown 3 disc clutch system possibly. stump Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Oooh, now this is looking mighty tasty....... The "Bruno" looks terrific Mike. As does the whole build I should add. Nice to see something a bit "older" getting drawn into the growing mix of bigger drag racing builds.
Magic Photos Posted December 7, 2011 Author Posted December 7, 2011 Thanks Greg I am trying, but the builders on here are the best around just have to try and keep up. Mike
stump Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Mike, I'd say you're keeping up pretty darn well mate. These bigger scale builds will always consume a bit more time and thought, mainly because we have to make so much ourselves, from scratch. Looking forward to updates as they happen man.
Magic Photos Posted December 15, 2011 Author Posted December 15, 2011 Waiting on some parts from TDR and then back to work on the car
