SuperStockAndy Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this or not... Anyhow, has anyone had a problem with the dash fitting on this kit? It is way too wide for the interior tub on my kit :\ Thanks in advance.
ranma Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I have built 2 of them never had that problem if you have the 66 wagon the dash from one would work otherwise trim the sides down a tad.
SuperStockAndy Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 Thanks. Not sure what the problem is...Anyone else?
Casey Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Can you post a pic of the dash almost in place so we can see what the issue might be?
SuperStockAndy Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 Sorry, I probably should've done that in the first place I'll try to get one on tonight or tomorrow.
SuperStockAndy Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 Here's a picture of the problem.... It's pushing the interior sides out. Also, is this the correct way for the top of the dash to go on? Sorry for the stupid question, it was confusing me.....
Guest Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 For one thing, you're trying to place the dash in the wrong spot. Those tabs that you have now cut off were supposed to slide down into the slots in the door panels. If you slide the dash back some, you'll find that it fits just fine. When all else fails, try looking at the instructions.
SuperStockAndy Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 I know, I just cut the tabs off because I could always glue it in anyway. I know how the dash goes in and all, but it just seems way too wide.
Casey Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 The dash is sitting too low, Andy. The top of the dash should be slightly above the top edges of the door panels IIRC. The tabs are pretty important as far as locating the dash in the interior bucket is concerned. It looks to me like the dash top shouldn't have as much overhang as it does in your picture. Hard to say, though. Again, look to the instructions and see if that helps at all.
