Mr. Moparman Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 I am starting this to keep me busy while i'm waiting on parts for my '69 Charger R/T. My paint will be Model Master Plum Crazy with an off-white interior. This will be my first model sprayed with my airbrush. I started the 383 engine. Enjoy!!!
moparmagiclives Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Are you going to decant that paint for your airbrush? Dont those cans spray pretty good when they are warmed up? My self I like the easy clean up of a rattle can, but you can get a really nice finish with an airbrush. Does that kit come with any white stripes to go with the white inside. That would look killer on that purple.
Mr. Moparman Posted December 26, 2011 Author Posted December 26, 2011 Yes, I am going to decant it using my decanting nozzle. It does come with a white stripe.
Rdkingjay Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Good uck with the airbursh Brandon. I have been using one for many years. The only thing I use rattle cans for now are primers and small pieces like rear view mirrors and such. Airbrushes require patience and practice. With these two things your finishes will greatly improve.
Mr. Moparman Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 OK, I got the engine painted with Model Master Chrysler Engine Blue thinned 50/50 thru the airbrush. I replaced to kit dizzy with one from my parts box and made the shaft from brass tubing. The wire is 30 gauge wrapping wire from Radio Shack. Enjoy!!!
62rebel Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Chrysler distributors on B/RB's are angled.... not to pick nits, but you went to the trouble of replacing it and wiring it... looks great, btw.
Haubenschild Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 looks awesome , i cant wait to see your first airbrushed body!
Haubenschild Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Why did you paint the engine blue? , i thought the High Perf 383's were orange?
Dirkpitt289 Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Looks good so far. I'd like to see the motor in better light if possible
dodgefever Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 (edited) Why did you paint the engine blue? , i thought the High Perf 383's were orange? Not until 1969. A '68 383 would be turquoise. edited for spelling. Edited December 31, 2011 by dodgefever
