Well not off to a good start, the pirmer and the body did not like each other, and it crazed the body, its not bad, hopefully sanding should smooth it out a little bit.

Well, I hope you guys building and posting here will continue. It's giving us lots of fun and eye candy to look at. Take your vitamins and keep going!

Progress report: 1. Tires are assemble and sanded. Clear coat is now drying so I can decal the lettering. 2. Chrome is stripped from several pieces and sprayed with chrome paint. 3. Rear differential is assembled and painted. 4 Slow progress on the engine. DSCN0610.jpgDSCN0614.jpg

Wow, you are a brave man doing this one with a 5 month old. Hope you get lots done. We'll be watching!

Rob, you are moving this one along very well. Cheers, cheers, cheers!

Moving right along:

  1. Body is masked and painted red.
  2. Slicks have been decaled and flat coated.

Now I am going to let the paint setup for an hour or so then back at it.

Had to take a break for a while and help my son fix his car...broken motor mount. So far I have the chassis about 90% complete......

And here I just kind of did a mockup to get an idea of how it's going to sit. One thing I did change was the rear tires. The kit tires were just too misshapen to use plus they were slicks. And no one in their right mind would be driving a Surf Wagon with slicks...they'd use treaded tires. So I pirated these these from the 67 Chevelle pro streeet kit. I just had to narrow the wheels by about 3/16" to fit even though the tread width was about the same...

Terry, are you sure you don't have EYEGORE over there giving you hand. Your progress for half a day is wonderful. Looking real good. Keep the eye candy coming.

I am falling behind here, had to make a supply run, so now I am back, just got done putting the final wet coat on the body, getting the rest of the parts painted. I will have some pics soon

I dunno Doc....I'm getting pretty tired already....Just lost an hour or 2 helping my son. I had to fabricate a bracket to hold the engine down in his Honda until he can go get a new top motor mount. Good thing I have a garage with all the tools... Back to the build!

OK...22:30 hours. I've got an honest 8 hours in this build as I lost a couple helping my son and making dinner for my wife and I. And here's where I'm at... The chassis is sitting on it's 4 wheels all glued in. The engine is in with some minor detail painting to do on the fan/supercharger belt drive and the driveshaft.

I gotta tell you...that front end was a complicated sonofagun to put together! Lot's of really small parts there!

Here's how it looks with the body on the frame. The interior tub is glued in. Now to do the interior. I think I'm going to use some flocking for the floor.... Still have to build the upper section yet...
