Ramcharger Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 I started this years ago and gave up. A couple of weeks ago I started on it again, the cammo was a, uh, challenge. The bandoliers were also a, uh, challenge. There was also some fit problems, but hey, it's together! Comments welcome!
Agent G Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 It looks as if you were up for the challenge. Good job. G
Ramcharger Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 Thanks, guys! Now back to cars, there's a '69 Nova that needs built.
Terror Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Thats nice and I like the wear on the boots looks real.
whale392 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Verlinden or Dragon import kit, Ron? Not that I would know anything about the SEALs or anything, but to me he is just too clean! Must have been fresh-dropped.
Ramcharger Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 Dragon. It's the dry season so he's more dusty than muddy!
whale392 Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 The shading and shadowing (especially on the face) look great, Ron. I used to paint 25mm AD&D figures and was actually considered pretty good at it. My favorite part was the face and flesh, making the stains on the teeth, the wet look to the eyes, and the overall tone gradient to the flesh. I miss it and have thought about getting back into painting them again. My old D.M had 22,000 (that is NOT a mis-type, he had them all categorized and filed according to type, frequency, and race/class/creature type) and I painted over 250 of them while I was stationed in Norfolk. I was thinking it looked familiar, just couldn't remember exactly which kit it was.

Must have been fresh-dropped. He's getting ready to take care of Bin Laden- give him a few minutes and he'll be grunged up a bit. Awsome piece of modeling there- figure modeling is a bit of a dark art to me, so I always love seeing them cleanly and realistically done.

Harry P. Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Nicely done, good detailing all around. But... he's a bit shiny. I say give him a shot of Dullcote. There should be absolutely no gloss whatsoever on him. In your photos I can see that his bandana is especially shiny... that needs to be flattened. Once you give him a shot of dull, go back with some clear gloss and a fine brush and paint each cartridge in the bandoliers. Yeah, a bit of work, but the end result will be fantastic, I guarantee you!
Haubenschild Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 I have this same model , too bad when i bought it i sucked a building models!
Ramcharger Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Remarkably Harry, he's already been hit with dullcoat and the cartridges were painted after! I have no idea where the shine came from in the photo, he looks dead flat in real life! Maybe there is a mysterious reverse dulling process because I used flat acrylics over flat enamals and sealed it with flat dullcoat. ! Thanks for the tip though, all suggestions are welcome and considered. Haubenschild, he sat in a box for years with just a basecoat on him because I was a little itimidated by the prospect of painting him with my limited skills.
