ZombieHunter26 Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 Under the skirt.... Few more to go...
ZombieHunter26 Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 Thanks to the wife for finding the high res camera hiding under a bunch of junk. She is a LIFESAVER.
Dirkpitt289 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 (edited) Nicely done, and you made quick work of it too Edited December 30, 2011 by Dirkpitt289
Mr. Moparman Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 It came out nice, and THOSE pics are ALOT better
ZombieHunter26 Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 Thanks guys. I usually don't work THIS fast, but I guess kit building is a lot easier than scratchbuilding (all the parts are there in the kit) so it takes me less time. I will have to take a good bit of time on my next kit.... just to see if I can make it even better. The awesome thing about this build? It was my first kit build. AND it was level 3. And I'm now addicted to em.
Monty Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 More to come... Rob, if you wouldn't mind a couple pointers, you can make that Shelby even better. Start by making sure the headlights are on straight (passenger side could use a little adjustment). Also, some folks have shown that using a small bit of Testors canopy glue on chrome headlights gives them the appearance of having glass lenses - it's a fairly cheap and easy trick. Lastly, a black wash on the mesh part of the grille and solid black on the inside grille surround will give it some depth and help set off the grille-mounted lights. Here's a pic of a black '68 to give you an idea It looked like you did some weathering on the chassis. What all did you use?
ZombieHunter26 Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 It looked like you did some weathering on the chassis. What all did you use? I washed the piece, primed it in ultra flat camo black (rust-oleum), then drybrushed it with silver acrylic miniature figure paint. I gave it a satin clear coat (krylon). for the gas tank, flatbrushed it with silver and chipped a few bits to give it a dirty look. the rear axle housing was painted in a red ink wash, to give age to the color. I made it look as though it was restored, but not by a -complete- professional. Think of finding this in someone's garage, and it had been a on-going project for them. And thanks for the pointers! I ran out of black pigments for my black wash, so it will be a bit before I can touch it up... but for the most part Black Venom is done.
