Custom Mike Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 That's gotta be the Revell 1/12th kit...
Haubenschild Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 Today i masked the body and prepped it for paint
Haubenschild Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 The roof has just been painted Tamiya pure white
Haubenschild Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 I re masked the body today and began assembeling the engine
Haubenschild Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 Here is the painted engine bay , i painted it gloss black then dull coated it
Mr. Moparman Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 What color are you thinking for the main body? Anywho, it's coming along great!
Haubenschild Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Model master Tropical Turqouise , 1957 Factory colour
Haubenschild Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Once again here is the body masked off and ready for paint , thankfully this is the last time i have to do any masking I also cut some exhaust tips out of stainless steel tube , they are pretty crude , here the first one i cut
Haubenschild Posted January 2, 2012 Author Posted January 2, 2012 (edited) I got some painting done today , i did run into some problems but luckily they were easy to fix , here is the body, hood and firewall covered with 3 mist coats and 1 wet coat , more wet coats will follow tommorow Edited January 3, 2012 by Haubenschild
Haubenschild Posted January 3, 2012 Author Posted January 3, 2012 (edited) Here is the body fully painted , i thought it came out nice , Hopefully i can keep the body this way until the build is finished Edited January 3, 2012 by Haubenschild
Casey Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 This thing is massive! ( the shoe is size 11 ) Is this the 1988 issue? I mean the shoe with the Velcro strap, not the model. I love the three Monogram 1/12 scale kits, and especially the '57 Bel AIr kit. Be sure to take your time with all the chrome trim pieces as some are very fragile, especially the nameplates. Is the interior going to be the same two-tone color scheme as the exterior?
Haubenschild Posted January 3, 2012 Author Posted January 3, 2012 (edited) The shoe is definatley not from the 80's , its fairley new , just a little worn . The interior will be Tamiya pearl white with tropical turqouise inserts with light blue flocking Edited January 3, 2012 by Haubenschild
Haubenschild Posted January 3, 2012 Author Posted January 3, 2012 Today I painted the front seats Tamiya pure white , painting the back seats and interior panels will be challengeing for me since they are all part of the interior tub
Casey Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Try painting the interior tub seat inserts with a brush. You'll have to move semi-quickly, but you can still mask them or use the raised edge as a guide. You'll be able to better control the paint in the corners of the inserts if you free-hand brush them, instead of masking and spraying them.
Haubenschild Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 There were alot of chrome parts that needed to be stripped in this kit , here they are taking a bath
Haubenschild Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 I got all the side trim glued on and began installing pieces in the engine bay
JunkPile Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Darn near life size, in plastic. Looking cool.
Rob McKee Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I have this kit sitting in my stash. I'll be watching your build. Great start, the paint looks great.
