Does anyone cast the stock wheels and tyres from the original (1962) Monogram 1:24th 1936 Ford? Subsequent issues didn't have these and the current kit's whitewalls and steelies, although nice enough, aren't like the originals.

The Modelhaus has everything you need in 1:25th but nothing in 1:24th.

Are they the same as the front tires on the original Black Widow and Green Hornet? If so I think someone, maybe Replicas and Miniatures, has them in resin.

Peter, I just found a set of the 36 Ford Custom hubcaps, and they fit the Original Green Hornet tires, so they must be the same. I dont know about the wheels. Replicas has some "artillery wheels" that look close.

Thanks a lot Glenn, much appreciated.

A Black Widow (current re-issue) is on it's way accross the pond as we speak so I can soon check that out.

I'll have to get a print catalogue from Replicas and Miniatures, been meaning to for a while.

Didn't Revell tool up a new set of tires for the Black Widow reissue?

Thanks a lot for the offer Dan but I'm sorry, I can't post pictures!

The wheels I'm talking about would be tan/brown in colour and have a whole in the center about the size of it's small hubcap. I should say at this point that I also own the complete 1962 issue of this kit but it's my holy grail and I want to keep it unbuilt. So I'm building the current issue as close to the original as possible.

I now have the Black Widow kit and the tyres are big'n'littles, quite different from the 36 Ford. Probably from a new tool, as you suggest, Casey, and really quite nice.

I also have a Green Hornet on the way and would bet my shirt it comes with the same tyres.

I saw those pics too but thought the wheels and tyres weren't shown clearly enough to post. But that is the kit I mean and thanks for posting the link.

When I was 13 or so (I'm 61 now) I built the 36, 34 and Model A Phaeton Fords and that's where my styrene addiction started. In the last month, after a windfall, I've bought all three again. The Phaeton was on Swiss Ebay and a 10 minute drive away. I've been after a reasonably priced 36, my favourite kit of all time, for years and bought this on US Ebay a couple of weeks ago. I was the only bidder at $24. I thought there must be something wrong that only I couldn't see but it's near perfect, even the box.

The Black Widow re-issue looks nice enough but I do miss the original instructions with the re-touched black and white photos.

Update.....

If anyone else out there is looking for stock-looking wheels and tyres for the current Monogram 36 Ford, take a look at those in the Revell 37 Ford pickup or delivery. They're slightly smaller than those in the original Monogram 36 but bigger than the current issue's steelies and white-walls, which are rather small for 1.24th.

Replicas and Miniatures also has two versions of the 37 wheels, one with the "spokes" opened (P-126), the other, (P-109) with 5-lug detail added so you can use them without hub caps.
