VDrummer Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Here is my first build in over 30 years. The original goal was to do a quick build for my wife for Christmas. I did not plan to put as much into it as I did. However, you guys have shown me (I just did a lot of reading, this is my first post) how much fun it can be. Without your knowledge, it would have never turned out as good as it did. Now I am afraid I am hooked and have started on my 2nd build. Big thanks to all of you.
trogdor Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 (edited) Looks great, nice and clean too. If you don't mind a little constructive criticism ; It looks like you've got a shifter on the column and one on the floor. Might want to remove the one off the column if that's the case. Haubenschild Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 That looks fantastic! , great detail throughout and as clean as a whistle! , you sure havent lost any modeling skills!
VDrummer Posted January 3, 2012 Author Posted January 3, 2012 Thanks trogdor. I don't mind constructive criticism - that is how I learn . It is suppose to be the turn signal. I didn't realize it until after I had finished it was on the wrong side. I am going to try to remove it and put it on the left side once I get more comfortable.
george 53 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 WELCOME BACK, Robert! You sure sharpened up real fast,Daddy-O! REALLY nice job for a 30 years lull! Came out real sharp.
RodneyBad Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 First build in 30yrs? Mustang looks Great. Paint looks really good. Nice work. A little blackwash in the grill and lil detail painting of the chrome dash would work well. Outside of that, I can't see a thing wrong with it..
VDrummer Posted January 3, 2012 Author Posted January 3, 2012 Thanks Haubenschild. One thing I realized is that I have more patience now than back then.
VDrummer Posted January 3, 2012 Author Posted January 3, 2012 A little blackwash in the grill and lil detail painting of the chrome dash would work well. I will look into the "blackwash" for the grill. I used to paint cars for a living (for about 5 years) 30 years ago. Painting this car has brought back a ton of memories. I have a renewed passion for it.
VDrummer Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 Nice and clean. What is your next project? Working on a AMT 2009 Challenger now. It is a lot different that the Mustang.

Some Bare Metal Foil (BMF: Really thin Tinfoil with an Adhesive backing) for the window frame treatment to bring out that nice chrome shine.. Welcome back to the Hobby. Can't wait to see how the Challenger turns out..
