Rdkingjay Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Fisrt off, let me preface this by saying, this is the type of car that has spawned much conversation with MRM's Ferrari thread. This is a diecast that is for the most part, a simple repaint. I did not assemble this car, aside from putting the body back on it, when complete. This is the type of car I would not feel comfortable putting into a show and calling it my own. I did not touch the interior, engine or chassis. This was actually my first airbrushed car. It started out as a B/W sherrifs car with a red bubblegum light and a fender mount siren. I built it to replicate the real one in our antique fleet. The first pic is of the real car. Someday I may go back and go through the whole model and really detail it, but its fine for now. Thanks for looking.
Badluck 13 Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Looks really sweet!!!!,you say this is your first airbrushed car???????......Brother you missed your callin'!!!!!!!,WOW!!!!!,took me forever to get it down.
Terry Sumner Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I built it to replicate the real one in our antique fleet. "Our" fleet? Does this mean you are a Mass Trooper?
Agent G Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Me thinks he is Terry, he has some other spectacular builds of cars "he has driven". That's a clue I believe, I am an investigator you know.............................. G
Harry P. Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Nice! That's some pretty slick paint you laid down...
JB_Hobbies Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Modifying diecasts, is still model building to me! Nice work. JB
Rdkingjay Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 Yes terry, I am, 16 years now. It has made it a bit easier to get the colors I need and see certain details up close, since the antique cars are stored in the same garage as our spare motorcycles and I'm in the M/C unit. Thanks for the nice comments.
Agent G Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 (edited) 16 years, pffft, a rookie! You do some mighty fine paint work though. G Edited January 6, 2012 by Agent G
Rdkingjay Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 Rookie?? Hahaha, let me guess Wayne, i'm still digesting academy food compared to you, right?? Thanks for the compliments on the paint work.
Danno Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 R00kie? I'm not going there ... Don't feel bad, Jay, G is a heckuva lot older than me, too! Nice stuff, Jay!
Terry Sumner Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 (edited) Jay...yeah..a rookie.. lol I've been retired almost as long as you've been on the job now. Retired Sgt., Connecticut State Police...1974 - 1996! Wayne...I was an investigator...once upon a time in a galaxy far far away..... But seriously Jay, welcome aboard. There are a few of us LEO types hangin' around here! Love the shoeboxes....nice work indeed! Edited January 7, 2012 by Terry Sumner
Agent G Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Older than Danno? Wow.................I'm ancient. Terry my first bureau job was '92 in Bomb and Arson. That too was long ago Jay, I did 28 years with the St Louis Metropolitan PD, 1979-2007. I retired in April of '07, moved west, and have worked since July of '07 as a Enforcement Agent of the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Think Trooper that works the casinos not the freeways. Good to have you aboard. G
Sixties Sam Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Very nice! Looks like it came out of one of those early 1950's detective movies! Good work! Sam
Rdkingjay Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 Yeah, Terry, I kind of wondered if you were on in Ct. Lot of friends on your dept. Wayne, if Mass. passes a casino bill our dept. is putting together a similar unit. 100 or so troopers.
Johnag4004 Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 I love seeing the America Police vehicles ours over the pond in the UK are rather plain... I'd also just like to say THANK YOU for being in the Police, I know I'm nowhere near you all, but I just think you guys have to do jobs that civilians wouldn't go anywhere near, also, not sure what it is like for you all over there but here in the UK the Police always get criticised but never thanked... Take care, stay safe and please keep the models coming... Andy...
Danno Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 One thing I've tried to avoid is ... actual dates. (No, not going out with showgurlz, but dates.) Dating things. Most notably, me. I was doing alright 'til G started flingin' details around. And, you, Terry! Okay. I started in '71 - sheriff's "special investigations" with long hair, bell bottoms and sandals. Moved to another state in '73 and into city patrol work, moved to sheriffs department in '75, promoted to patrol supervisor in '77, detective in '80; did 10 years and went with the money - private consulting (fires and arsons) for 12 years (but also ran DA's arson task force for a chunk of those years), then into insurance SIU ~ fires and auto thefts for past 15 years ... well, I "retired" a couple of years ago but got bored (and broke ~ thanks BHO) and went back to work. I can just see G over there with his shoes off trying to calculate the years! Just remember, G, I started when I was in junior high school! Gotta love that Junior Achievement Junior G-Man program!!!
Terry Sumner Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Yeah, Terry, I kind of wondered if you were on in Ct. Lot of friends on your dept. Wayne, if Mass. passes a casino bill our dept. is putting together a similar unit. 100 or so troopers. My son is a Trooper now. He actually has my badge that I wore when I was a Trooper and TFC. And he is currently in our Casino unit now. He mostly works at the Foxwoods casino but occasionally works Mohegan Sun.
Agent G Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Casino enforcement, and regulatory compliance are a pretty good gig. We have fun and since no one else wants the responsibility, it's all ours. Metro's sheriff once said if his agency had to do the casino thing, he'd need at least 500 more coppers. Hmmmm, we do it with just under 200 statewide. Terry, my oldest has my patrolman's badge, my cousin got my detective shield. Danno, Oh my you are old! One point though, I can count to eleven without removing my shoes. Remember I was a Jarhead long long ago. It's math for Marines 12345678910-MANY! G
