so... where are all the Revell Deuce kits? out of production already? last spring i couldn't help tripping over AMT reissues of the flipnose '53, the '72 Chevelle, the Old Pro Nova...... now, RC2/AMT kits are scarce as hens teeth at the LHS..... been there every week since Thanksgiving, sometimes twice a week and there is literally nothing new on their shelves..... unless its Radio Controlled.

List some kits you are looking for, but cannot find. That way, we can tell if other locations are also missing new issues and reissues.

Off the top of my noggin, I have seen the '62 Thunderbird at my LHS.

What else?

I still see them around at some of the shops here. One of the stores I go to only brings in 1 or 2 of each kit and they typically don't last to long unless it is a real dog of a kit.

Ask your LHS owner. They may still be able to get them through the distributer.

As a rule of thumb, I grab the kits I want when they hit the shelves to avoid disappointment later.

The RC2/AMT kits you mentioned have not been produced since 2006. So they may be drying up in the LHS's. Round 2 now ownes AMT, MPC and Polar Lights. They have been putting out kits but I don't think they are producing as much of each as RC2 did. Round 2 has been focusing on kit's that have not been released in awhile.

The Revell 32 kits should be real easy to find. It just depends on which version you are looking for. The 32 Sedan was released in 2008 and the 32 five window was released in 2009. Also the 32 three window was rereleased recently along with the old tool 32 street rod. Revell shows those two as currently availible along with the sedan. I'm not sure when the last time Revell put out the 32 Dan Fink's Speedwagon or the 32 Highboy.

i'm beginning to believe that our Hobbytown just doesn't want to keep car kits in stock. there's stacks of RC helicopters and planes by the checkout, one end cap of "new release" kits.... buying online is getting to be the only real choice i have if i want something specific other than paint.

Actually, the Hobbytown here doesn't have the best selection either. I did find the new ROG Citroen there recently, but they don't seem to keep well stocked on all kits. HT USA prices aren't good either and you will find a larger selection with better pricing online.

Curt,

Which HTU are you referencing, the one in Mt. Pleasant or the one in Charleston? I remember being in the one in Charleston back in October and I thought they had one of the best selections in a HTU that I had seen in quite awhile. While I wasn't looking for a specific kit, they did seem to have quite a variety, in my opinion.

There is a show/swap meet coming up in 2 weeks in Spartanburg and while that is a bit of a drive, you might be able to find some kits there.

As was mentioned, some of those kits are not in production and it is possible likeminded folks scooped them up. Make sure you check with Tower Hobbies, they have a special going on now where you get free shipping on an order of $30 or more, which works out to about 2 kits.
