Evil Appetite Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 The body is nicely done...no sink marks \I can see, and the only mold lines are at the front near the edges of the front fascia, and along the tops of the rear q-panels. They wont take much sanding to knock down.
Evil Appetite Posted January 8, 2012 Author Posted January 8, 2012 (edited) I,ll just go ahead and post the parts trees. They're nicely done, and not very much flash on these parts. The floor pan has a bunch of sink marks, but thats not a problem. What can Is ay about the clear plastic...mine doenst have a single scratch or blemish on them! The tires are are very soft rubber, nicely done I think Edited January 8, 2012 by Evil Appetite
Evil Appetite Posted January 8, 2012 Author Posted January 8, 2012 (edited) The decals are done well too and wont need much trimming before application Edited January 8, 2012 by Evil Appetite
Dragline Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Yet another one I must get. I'm thinking some overtime is in the works. Bob
Dave Van Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Is this a new kit on the market? It's a reissue but new decals. I was a little disappointed that the kit was unchanged from the last issue and the body is incorrect for the version shown on the box. I thought for sure that when RM announced the kit they would update the body as the C6-R has replaced this C5-R. I love road race cars.....even produced some kits myself.....so I was happy to see a 'new' road race kit come to market........but a new box and decals is a little disappointing.
martinfan5 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Dave- I was thinking the same thing, it looks like the same kit they did in the late 90's I think it was when Revell first did this kit
ffreak Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 (edited) The reason they used the older C5R kit is that is the body that that this particular decal version had in '03 at Lemans, before GM updated the car to the C6R. The only problem I have with it is that they only choose to do the decals for the # 50 car and not include the #'s 53 on the sheet, which was the team car for the Lemans race. Dave Van Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I understand a C5-R is correct for these decals.....but had hoped they updated the body some like they have been doing with some of their kits of late. Still a decent kit but only a new set of decals and a box top.
martinfan5 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Yes me too, I was looking forward to this kit, now I am bit disapointed , i am happy that Mike did a kit review for us. I will still get this one, but now its not at the top of my list
Len Woodruff Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I am ecstatic getting this kit with these decals! I noticed they included 2 sets of wheels with this kit. I always thought the BBS were a little small but the OZ look to be the correct size and were run on this car during this time.
martinfan5 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I noticed the two sets of wheels too, I am all for the extra set of wheels , thats a plus for getting the kit as well, just to bad its not updated
jbwelda Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 does the finished model sit as close to the ground (scale wise) as that photo on the box? or would one have to modify it to get it to sit that low? i have a flintstone cadillac XLR that i am thinking about trying to put over something like this and i would like to have to mess with the chassis as little as possible beyond just fitting the body, and i would want it to hug the ground.

I may put my other projects aside this week and put it together. For a Skill level 3 it really doesnt look too bad. I think maybe it should have received a 2 instead. I'll know by they end of the week. It'll be a first but I'll post pics for you guys when it's done.
blubaja Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I'm glad Revell finally decided to make the right set of wheels for the previous kits they released lol.
deathskull59 Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 i think the name compuware sounds lame and nerdy.
Len Woodruff Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Anybody figure out where the extra carbon fiber decals go? I haven't found any reference for those yet?
Evil Appetite Posted January 12, 2012 Author Posted January 12, 2012 (edited) Which Number is that decal on the sheet Len, I went throught the instruction sheet with the decal and they all seem to be accounted for Edited January 12, 2012 by Evil Appetite

Needs a RED windshield/visor
