won a revell mazda mx5 miata off ebay a couple days ago. should be here in a couple days and i need some ideas for it.

i dont like then engine in it and i have a few extra V8s sitting around so i'm thinking a motor swap for sure. maybe a body kit? im not into the turner stuff so maybe this for a body kit. or maybe go for more of the cobra concept car from 05? i wanna do it like a stock looking body and crazy high horse power car. i know on paint im using metal flake blue and sliver stripe down the center. on wheels im thinking a 5 spoke muscle car type rim and kinda meaty tires. i want it to be a guys car and look like the guy that drives it could kill you with his hands.

The LS1 is a fairly common transplant into Miatas, as is the Ford 5.0. Check out the Engine Conversions section in the forum of Miata.net for a wealth of build threads, photos etc.

you do know that a so-called "monster miata" totally ruins the car dont you? "guy car" or other bs aside, you put a cobra motor in that thing and i will run circles around you with my mildly hopped up lowered koni shocked and bigger sway barred miata, on anything but a mostly straight away. just thought i would clarify that because a bone stock miata NA is one of the most balance cars ever manufactured for the mass market.

but i do like those shark gills on the side of the one you pictured there and heck its just a model so do what you want; its just that in real life those transplants just ruin the car.

i do have one spare LS but it might go in a nova, ive got a few 5.0s but i might try to make a new coyote 5.0 for this beast. i've thought about making a turbo for the stock engine but the engine it self isnt that detailed and thats why i want to swap an engine in. i want to update the look of the car and motor. kinda a 2015 miata concept car type i guess

The "gears" style miata shown above was pretty sweet, a built ford 351w and a 5 speed trans if i remember correctly. along with the sort of styling of it was well, mada the lillte miata actually pretty killer, in my eyes anyway. i'd try to replicate something like that.

so i got the miata in the mail today. opened it up and grabbed my cobra body and the shelby 1 body and the cobra is smaller and the shelby 1 is bigger. i can try to cut the shelby 1 down and try to make it work but im thinking itll look funky and im not sure of where to cut it? should i try to graft the head lights in and then the grill opening? or what haha? the back end i just have to narrow the shelby 1 taillight panel down. other than that im kinda stuck or where to cut

dave i assume you are referring to a fairly unmolested miata...yep some konis set on low setting and bigger anti sway bars and they go around corners like they are on rails. could still use 100hp more or so but i was recently told that a turbocharger from a 323 (i think it was) bolts right onto the series one motor (and probably any miata motor...they havent progressed much in the years since introduction in 1990)...the bosses for the turbo brackets are even on the miata motor and all. i am currently looking for a wrecked turbo 323 to scavenge one from.

oh and as for them being "chick cars"...well ok, i kinda like chicks digging my car. on the other hand some like having a bunch of dudes hanging around admiring their car/truck/whatever. i am not going to go into the conclusion i could draw from that!

"Monster Motorsports" Miatas are wicked. I think they were the first to transplant the Ford 5.0. The top drawer conversion had body kit and suspension to balance it out. The "sleeper" was a 5.0 5 speed transplant with either a T-Bird or RX-7 rear suspension with no body mods (saw pics of one with tiny steel wheels). I'm sure that was a handful when you put your foot in it, just like when Carrol started putting Amercan V-8s in little English sports cars!!

No motor mods to ours, but I like the idea of adding the 323 turbo. IIRC, they both use the same basic motor, so shouldn't be a problem, except in California.

Someone in my town has a Miats with the Ford 5 litre conversion. It's wicked fast, but you need some fat rubber to get that power to the ground.

wow are you kidding me?

that motor looks fantastic in there. incredibly tight though but just looking at it it is very impressive!

ok so if your wife has a monster miata...what the heck do you drive?

:D
