Bartster Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Does anyone know what the optional engine is in AMTs '66 Nova "Resto Rods" issue ?
62rebel Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 as far as i know, it's always been a small block with weiand hirise and other goodies. one of the high points of AMT, imho.
Bartster Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 That is the main engine. There i also a short block w/heads to display on the included engine stand. The "Resto Rod" kit I have also comes with a 3rd "Resto rod option" engine. It appears to be a Buick nailhead, but I'm not certain?
Rob Hall Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 It's been a while since I looked at one, but IIRC all the Resto Rods had the same marginal, generic optional engine..
Bartster Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 That could explain my trouble identifying it, lol! Still it seems it would have to be based on something. No clues on the box or instruction sheet.
dodgefever Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 The instructions are on the DPMCC site here: http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/instruction_sheetsh/instruction_sheets/amt-8/amt-1966-chevrolet-/#media Looks like a Ford FE (in a Nova? ), but doesn't even have a distributor?
Rob Hall Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) The 'Resto Rods' series was a weak effort from RC2 to cash in on the Pro Touring trend, their answer to Revell's 'California Wheels' and 'Motor City Muscle' series...their 'Rides' series of reissues were just as bad, reissues w/ poorly tooled, cheesy new parts, IMO.. Bartster Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 Ding...Ding...Dodgefever is the winner! I compared it to the '64 T-Bolt. It's very poorly done, but it does match up!
