JamesW Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) There are a few topics of people who are currently trying to cast clear resin parts, but have yet to see one where the person has mastered it. What I'm looking for is some tail lights in clear. Specifically the AMT Chevy C1500 pickup, S-10, Blazer, Ranger, Revell Silverado and F-250/350. I think there would be a decent demand for these parts and I have quite a few projects that I would like to use these on. My question is, is there anyone out there that would be willing to take on this task? Edited January 14, 2012 by JamesW
Danno Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Best one around! The Master Caster. Contact Greg Wann at plumber-boy1@cox.net Tell him I sent you! Here's a set of Cosma Ray bubble tops Greg casts: Here's some marker lights Greg casts: And some elusive JoHan ambulance corner beacons:
Kris Morgan Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 James, Doing clear or, clear red tail lights is pretty simple. I would be happy to talk things over with you. I am about an hour from you. You can email me at amorgan615@yahoo.com
Mike Kucaba Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Dannos's right about Greg Wann . the quality of his resin casting has to be seen, but his clear casting is incredible. He could be casting 24/7 in clear just to replace all the busted up clear shots in Monogram 1/8th scale kits.
martinfan5 Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 I am going to be meeting up with Gregg this coming week to pick up some resin items from him
Greg Wann Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 (edited) Thanks, Guys. Marty brought those ambulance beacons to me to copy. After looking at them closely in my magnifier from removing them from the sprue I noticed the surface was actually pretty rough. I gave them a fine sanding to true them up and then a good polishing. these Jo-Han parts started shedding a red coat of transparent paint in the polishing procces, I thought that was a bit odd. but they turned out nice. Like most every other resin caster out there I am a one man operation. There are a hundred things around the house I am supposed to be doing besides playing with model cars. My wife complains that all I do is play. Recently she started playing some dumb computer game online that has to do with a garden that nothing even gets grown in. All I hear is this tinkling music playing and an occasional horse whinny and her talking to herself. I'm in my room making messes and cussing! I also still have a job to go to too. If you want something I make contact me. You might need to send me reminders about something you are wanting too.. I need to get better organized. Edited January 15, 2012 by Greg Wann
