Ira Posted January 17, 2012 Author Posted January 17, 2012 Now that SPACE BANDIT is Finished, I wil be posting more of the construction shots of this 3 Day Build! SPACE BANDIT is Taking Shape! Here we go......
Ira Posted January 17, 2012 Author Posted January 17, 2012 Intakes & Thrusters... I smoothed most of the bodywork and added the 4 Intakes on and under the hood. The holes for the Horizontal Thrusters have been cut into the Thruster Pods. Here is the 2nd Tirebird Body Underside. The front end, roof, and wheel flares have been removed. Access Plate Fit in Place and Side Pods are almost finished!
Ira Posted January 17, 2012 Author Posted January 17, 2012 Let the Stars Shine In!!! Expanding the windshield & rear window!
Ira Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Nose Job for Burt! Had to cut about 1/8th inch from Burt's nose to make room in the cockpit. I also carved his hair to make it look more like the Bandits hair and added an ear & sideburn on the left side. I gave Burt a "Trim" on the back of the neck, so that he would fit the area a little better.
Ira Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 TIME TRAVEL OPTION!!! The interior plate had to be cut in half to fit into the body. The front dashboard area was cut out to fit the Instument Panel from Revells Firebird Street Machine kit. The rear area was cut out to fit this part from a Star Wars X-Wing Fighter. Looks like a Time Travel Machine to me...
Ira Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Here are the Interior Pieces with the Instrument Panel & Time Machine in Place!!
Tony T Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Very cool build! Love the imagination you put into it.
Ira Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Floats In Mid Air!!! Here is how I set Up the support wire. First I located the center of the bottom of the car, then I drilled a hole there. Next I cut 3 lengths of plastic tubing, 1 to fit the Piano Wire in and 2 more larger sizes to go around it. I glued the 3 tubes together then glued the tubes over the hole. I did the same thing to the display base. Now I can use different lengths of wire to support the car, even pose it on an angle if I want to...
Ira Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 (edited) Got Some Paint!!! SPACE BANDIT is painted with Tamiya Mica Blue over a Pearl Base. I added 2 inner wheels from a '59 El Camino kit for supports for the jet engines. Then I painted the rear area with Flat Black. Edited January 18, 2012 by Ira
