Inky Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Greetings every one. I have been lurking here for a while and decided to join today. My name is Shaun and I live in NW Arkansas. I have been building models for about 35 years now. Ever since I can remember I have been into the big rigs. Drove OTR for 10 years and then went into the Army for a while. Before I went into the Army all I did was plastic but when I got out of the Army 4 years ago I started modeling with paper, I found it much cheaper. After looking at this forum for awhile I am getting back into plastic. Here is a pic of a few trucks I did. They are the 1:32 diecast trucks you get at truck stops. A few of them are still unfinished. The second pic is of the International Space Station and it is all done out of paper (card stock), and the third pic is a C-130 gunship done out of paper. I have tons more but don't wanna bore you to much with all my pictures. Thank you for having me and I look forward to talking with y'all and learning some new tricks and tips. Shaun
Jim B Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Welcome to the Forum. That International Space Station is paper? That's impressive!
Hessel Hemstra Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Also welcome to the forum. My wife also builds models from paper. There are quite a few models from trucks and stuff in scale 1:25. Also a lot of military stuff like a complete Dragon Wagon. I will look into some pics and post them Hessel
Hessel Hemstra Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I promised som pics from 1:25 trucks and stuff. Here they are. Hessel
cowboysevens Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 welcome to the forum shaun , them are some nice trucks
Inky Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Thank you every one for the warm greatings. Hessel, I have all three of those model but haven't built them yet. I have 7 or 8 on the work table right now that I am working on and need to finish, hopefully some day I will get to build them. Here are two more trucks that you can find at paper-replika.com, I really wanna do them and customize the white Pete.
txdieseldog Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Shaun, welcome. Hey, can you do us a favor on the pics? I had problems getting your thumbnails to open up. Any chance you have a photobucket account? I use the image code on the bottom option of my pics and post it right on the thread. Drag over the pic, click "img code" then go back to thread, right click at the end of your post and paste it on. Works great!
Inky Posted January 19, 2012 Author Posted January 19, 2012 Any chance you have a photobucket account? Well I didn't but because you asked I do now. Here are the first three pictures I posted, hope this works right.
Inky Posted January 19, 2012 Author Posted January 19, 2012 I love the custom new ray peterbilts! Are the sleepers made of plastic sheet? Do you have any more pictures of them? I would like to see more! Justin, Yes the sleepers are made of plastic. The red Pete's sleeper is made out of CD cases but for the bigger sleepers I bought plastic sheets from the hobby store. Here are some more pictures for you of the sleepers. Just want to remind every one, these were my first scratch builds and were done about 7 years ago, back then I didn't know all the tricks and things to modeling so the detail on these are crappy. Now that I have learned allot more tricks I am going to redo these. Here are a few morw pictures.
txdieseldog Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Shuan, PERFECT!!!! got every single one! Large and clear. Thank you sir for the update. Able to see all of your great stuff, no problem.
