Now I have to make the dang hubs. Front airbags are small O-rings Edited February 3, 2012 by otherunicorn
Cool Hand Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Hey Frank, Id like to join in on this CBP,will post something up in a few days.
Cool Hand Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 This is the kit il be using for my build,it is some what simular in shape to the aussie XB coupe.
Dirkpitt289 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 That's a nice looking kit. I don't think I've seen that particular kit before.
diymirage Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 thanks Dirk enjoy it while it lasts because it wont stay nice looking for long
otherunicorn Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 This is the kit il be using for my build,it is some what simular in shape to the aussie XB coupe. And many people thought this was what was used. I understand that the Aussie designers used the "best bits" of several designs to come up with that series. The Mustang style hood was adoped by the XB model. That hood became popular over here for a while, and customizers started grafting it to everything. Sometimes it looked good, but there is something fundamentally wrong with a Holden/Chev with one grafted on. It looked weird.
otherunicorn Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Making a custom font axle meant I had to make custom hubs/steering too.
otherunicorn Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I appear to have derped on the exhaust pipe placement. Yesterday was spent on the merc behind it. Today's free time was mostly spent asleep.
Cool Hand Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 (edited) Finally made a start on my build. So far ive filled in side marker lights. Shaved the side vents and door locks. Removed mold lines. Rescribed door and boot/trunk gaps. Block sanded the body. Next up is to get the ride height set and start work on the engine. . Edited February 3, 2012 by Cool Hand
otherunicorn Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Looking the part, for sure. My progress:
diymirage Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 got up early today and laid down some paint im building this one as a car that was a daily driver before the world went awry and that got modded on the fly so ill ad the modding later
diymirage Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 little update on my build after i converted it to run on propane we noticed that even with the trunklid removed the tanks still poked up a bit to keep from stray bullets sending my to kingdom come i decided to weld up and enclosement (ill ad mesh later) on a side note, im really excited to add this little part on here...it is a wink back to the car max drove in the road warrior (chin spoiler up next) before you look at these pics i want you to remember that when we welded these plates on there i did not have time to weld it like i usually do (normally my welds look like rolls of quarters) whats that ? whats with the gymbag you ask? well, i was thinking of working out later on tonight...working on keeping some punk out off my car
diymirage Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 thanks, its a two edged sword...i have it in two CBPs and the descriptions are almost identical...just replace punks with zombies and your done im actually really enjoying this build there is something about modifying a body without needing it to look "nice"
Cool Hand Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Im dropping out of this CBP. Lost interest in building the Torino,so its back in the box.
otherunicorn Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I'm thinking we should just consolidate over at the TZH build. As Eelco says, these builds are practically the same, and that build is so much more active.
Dirkpitt289 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Im dropping out of this CBP. Lost interest in building the Torino,so its back in the box. That's too bad. I was looking forward to seeing the Torino get built.
Dirkpitt289 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I don't feel my build fits in at all with the TZH build so I'm going to post it here as long as no one disapproves. One could say this build doesn't fit here either because its Pre-Apocalyptic as opposed to the Post but, it is Mad Max all the way so Onward and upward. Now when everyone thinks of the Mad Max cars they always think of the Black Falcon. I decided I'm going to try and make this one into something more like its lesser known and more colorful cousins. Here are more shots of the kit parts. If you want to see a more detailed and colorful look at this build click the link http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=54215
Dirkpitt289 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 More to follow.... Thanks for looking If you want to see a more detailed and colorful look at this build click the link http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=54215
Dirkpitt289 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Time for some plastic surgery Before That wasn't soooo bad Well that's it for now. Thanks for looking. If you want to see a more detailed and colorful look at this build click the link http://www.modelcars...showtopic=54215
otherunicorn Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 According to the info in one of the posts up above, Mad Max 4 is set in the time between MM1 and MM2, so that would make it pre-apocalypse for at least part of the film. Mine is looking more like it belongs in MM3. Mine is looking more like it belongs in MM3 all the time.
Dirkpitt289 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Last night I started work on the 351 Cleveland power-plant for our Interceptor. If you want to see a more detailed and colorful look at this build click the link http://www.modelcars...showtopic=54215
