I'm trying to build a "correct" '74 Roadrunner 440 using the AMT 74 GTX and '71 Charger kit..some guys have said the motor is Chry. Red but I believe it should be Chrysler Blue with an orange dual snorkel aircleaner for the 440 4bbl.

I believe the 440 was dropped by 74, but I also believe the 400 would be the blue (along with the small blocks).

Actually the question I really have is the correct engine colors..lets say it's a 73 instead of a 74, that year did have the 440 Roadrunner,although with the 440 it also carried the GTX designation

In 74 the 440 was optional, but could only be had with an automatic.

That is WRONG!!!!!!!! The engine code was U in 74 and the 440 was rated at 280 HP.

The engine should be a light blue with an ORANGE SINGLE snorkel Air Cleaner.
