  1. we laid my buddy Dan Morgan to rest today. The Birmingham show in March will never be the same again. Pat Covert and I rode to the graveside service together, we were both Pall Bearers, and we discussed a special sub theme category in honor of Dan. I will let you know what goes on. Chris
  2. Bob, knowing Dan the way I did, I can tell you he loved it! He thought a lot of you and that I know for sure. One of the small things I will miss, is that when he bought collections and pieces and stuff, if there was odd weird or pieces of Mopars, be it trucks cars or just bits and pieces, EVERY time I hit a show, he had a "Chris' Bag of Mopar Junk" that he gave me. He was like a brother to me and was instrumental this year when I went through a divorce in keeping me from losing my mind. I'll miss him a bunch and as I said, there is a BIG hole in my life now.
  3. For those who knew him, Dan Morgan of the Magic City Car Modelers passed away at 3:20 this morning, I know some of you here knew him. He was a great friend and you could not meet a better ambassador for this hobby. The man was a great friend and was a groomsman at my wedding. There is a big hole in my life today. Chris Louden
  4. The host Motel in Trussville has been booking rooms for the SEVENTH instead of the FIRST. The seventh is the Cookville TN show. If you have made reservations and such, you might want to call the motel and get it squared away. Make sure you and them are in sync. Chris
  5. For me personally, several stand out, but the neatest, coolest model car I have ever seen would have to be Bill Geary's Charger Daytona, ANd his 57 Vette is AWESOME! Kenny Reeves' Super Cat is still one of my favorites. Charlie Ryder's Chevelle racecar is astounding! Ken Hamilton's Camper Diorama is an INCREDIBLE piece, takes HOURS to see all the little details. Hollywood Jim's....Truck, for lack of a better word, that he sent to B'Ham for the post WWIII theme group. If you haven't seen this, there IS NO WAY to describe it!!!! Those are the first ones that come to my mind but I am sure I could come up with SO MANY more.
  6. 69 Revell Charger, 426 Hemi with low profine supercharger, wheels from the Revell 59 Corvette, Paint is House of Kolor black pearl metallic with the black top and flat black hood stripes. Headers are made of solder. The car also has the first set of eat belts I have tried to use. I had to make front spindles out of the originals and change mounting positions and de arch the rear springs. I also made frame connectors and front sway bar for the car.

  8. Some pictures of my stuff! A little album of kits and my little work table. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome...tag=1&v_r=t There is a hodgepodge of STUFF in these pictures and I have rearranged and changed things since these were taken
  9. Lots of times when I get in a slump, I build a simple snap or curbside or just real simple kit. That will usually do it for me.
  10. We had a Wallyworld here in Huntsville, that got the Magnum Wagons the week after they were officially released, they were in the clearance aisle for 7 bucks a POP! Yeah I picked up 5-6 of em!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. That is WRONG!!!!!!!! The engine code was U in 74 and the 440 was rated at 280 HP. The engine should be a light blue with an ORANGE SINGLE snorkel Air Cleaner.
  12. Oh I'll take a little of that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome...sns&notag=1 Mopar has always marched to the beat of their own drum! These are but a few examples, from yesterday AND today that prove at least ONE manufacturer is willing to take chances and not build a car that looks like EVERYTHING else on the road! From the original Charger in 66 and 67, The awesome 69 Charger Daytona and 70 Plymouth Superbird. NOBODY but Mopar could have built and sold a car that outlandish! The classic second generation Charger right through to the current generation Ram trucks, not the least of which is a truck powered by a Viper Driveline and is capable of a GOVERNED 155 MPH!
  13. I love the color and WHERE did those badges come from?
  14. I had an uncle that bought me my first one. I can't even remember what it was. BUt the first one I ever bought and built MYSELF was the AMT 70 Ford police car. YEAH it was pretty bad. The rest are kind of a blur, but I have the Hobby Heaven issue of that Ford plus a couple of the Stevens INTL reissues from last year. I enjoy about anything now and for a while I built FOR contests. OVer the past few years, I have started building what I WANT to build, Then if I go to a show, I just take what I have built. I have a LOT more fun this way.
  15. The Revell ANd AMT Ram trucks are correct through 2001 in half ton (1500) and 2002 in 3/4 and 1 ton (2500-3500) The revell would take a LOT of work to make it look like a work truck though it has a hot rod style front fascia and such.
  16. Cool car UGLY wheels but MAN makes me think long and hard about MY 1:1 73 S/E!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. I tried to buy a couple parts from those guys a few years ago, everything they had was "prefer to sell it locally". After about 15 minutes of this I just hung up on the guy. I told him that we don't use confederate money in Alabama anymore! Mine's as good as anybody else's.
  18. Most Likely, the "oh well" was because others have said the same thing, TO ME it looks like the shortened the roof and screwed up the 1/4 panels. They are STILL trying to make a Cuda body fit a Challenger Chassis. E-bodys ARE NOT B-Bodys! B-Bodys are the same underneath from one generation to the next, the MAIN differences are body panel related. E-bodyas are different beasts in the wheelbase length and also the OVERHANG length. This exists on EITHER END. The body differences on the FRONT are easy enough. But the tail of the cars are very different. From the firewall back there are many differences in the cars. The problem comes from trying to make the Cuda body fit a Challenger chassis. It's GONNA look misproportioned, NO WAY around it. They had a good idea and kicked it out the door! All to save some tooling money. The unfortunate thing, is that this thing will hit the market (I'll admit I'll buy one for the HOOD!) It'll sit on shelves because of the fact that it DOESN'T LOOK like a 70 Cuda and Revell will claim that there is "No Market" for a new tool Cuda. That is the real sorry thing about this kit. The comments about the kit being misproportioned before the kit is on the shelf will be conveniently forgotten. To borrow a phrase, OH WELL, I'll buy ONE instead of SEVERAL like I had planned.
  19. I've gotten lucky enough to score most of my grails, I LOVE MPC Mopar annuals and especially Chargers. I have most all of em. I am only missing the 72 Rally and a 73 and 74. I have some of the CUdas and Challengers plus a few other cool originals Like Johan 70 Road Runners and Superbirds. Even a JoHan 68 Chrysler 300. Most of em I have either traded for or just lucked into at shows or through buddys.
  20. That is gonna be a really neat car. VERY cool conversion! I have that same conversion started, but in a little bit different way. Not using as much of the Magnum floorpan. Mine has a fstback roof and hidden headlamps though Not as radical of a conversion but the 66-67 Charger BEGS for a converson of this type.
  21. Another Colonel Replica huh? I guess I am gonna have to build a 1/25 scale version!
  22. 02-06 Ram truck (Quad Cab) Lindberg has announced a 2006 Dodge truck BUT IT IS THE RAMPAGE CONCEPT! Why do the Dodge guys get shafted when it comes to trucks?!?!?! WHAT IS THE DEAL????? The only things RESEMBLING a decent detailed late model Dodge truck in TEN YEARS have been two CONCEPT trucks that can not be built into anything stock. The only nice late model Dodge pickemups are SNAPFAST/Unbuilt PROMOS! Same as above, SRT10 Variant Now that AMT has officially said no go, the New Challenger. A NICE 70 Cuda (HOPING the REvell AAR redo comes off a LOT better this time around) CHEETAH! Reissue of Revell's Landy 68 Charger (I'd by a DANG CASE this time around!) 57 Chevy 2 DR SEDAN! I had one when I was 17. 70-71 MErcury Cyclone (68-69 car would be great as well, I had a 68 GT) 1970 Charger with SEPERATE R/T Door scoops 1973 or 4 Charger S/E 76-77 olds Cutlass 442 A 67-69 Barracuda fastback NEW TOOL A 74-75 Monaco police car. A NICE well detailed 68-70 AMX! Of ALL the muscle car material that has been tooled, retooled and modified retooled in the past ten years, NOTHING AMC! How many MUSTANGS DO we need?!?!?! The REbel Machine would be cool as would a 71-74 Javelin/AMX (72 Javelin Police car YEAH they were used!!!!!)
