tyrone Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Looks awesome.. as to be expected Randy the dash looks great, what did you use to simulate the odometer lenses..??
Shelbytona Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 (edited) Thanks guys for all the compliments, haha i don't have any PE keys/key chains, but i'll get some for other builds! I got the interior tub complete and i put some tamiya weathering mud on the drivers floorboard and pedals (i'll get a better pic of that) I also got a good part of the engine completed and i'm happy with how it turned out so far... I covered the gauges in tamiya clear to make it look like lenses. Edited February 13, 2012 by Shelbytona
Shelbytona Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 (edited) Just thought I'd tell you...because of this thread I went out and got this kit today, you've inspired me to make my own Firebird! This is one of the most detailed builds I've ever seen, and it isn't even finished yet! What do you make your seat belts out of? Also, do you get BMF and flocking from MCG as well as vinyl tops? You're doing really good man, the finished build is going to look great. You'll be impressed with the way this kit goes together, i don't have one complaint on it yet! you going to build a stock one or modify it? the seat belts are 1/8" ribbon from walmart, from the crafts section.. works perfect with the Model car garage PE seat belt buckles. I painted on the vinyl top and used un thinned paint thru my airbrush to give it the texture. The BMF and flocking is from my LHS. Edited February 13, 2012 by Shelbytona

Guest Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 It's looking real nice Randy! Looks like you're almost done. Can't wait to see the finished product! I was wondering if you were going to put the mud flaps on or not.
rv1963 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 (edited) Great work on the firebird i am really enjoying the entire build, i had a 67 and a 68 firebird and almost all your details are correct i like the used look also. Edited February 14, 2012 by rv1963
gray07 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I dont know how i missed this post, but i love it, in the 80s we always painted our cars under the back white, that way when you put the cone lights under it, i always mounted mine on the shock bolts ( like my van has now, lol) it would make the whole rear of car light up red. It was cool
66belair Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Nice work! You've alot of intresing detail.
Shelbytona Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 Thanks guys for all the compliments and tips on this build! it's done and posted "under glass"
carchub Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 You'll be impressed with the way this kit goes together, i don't have one complaint on it yet! you going to build a stock one or modify it? the seat belts are 1/8" ribbon from walmart, from the crafts section.. works perfect with the Model car garage PE seat belt buckles. I painted on the vinyl top and used un thinned paint thru my airbrush to give it the texture. The BMF and flocking is from my LHS. I'm going to modify it similar to the way you are. Eventually I'll have a small line-up of highschool dragsters: the Firebird, a Nova, and maybe even a '68 Dart! Thanks for the info, too.
Dirkpitt289 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 That is one great build. I love the way the interior came out
crowe-t Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Awesome build! The wood grain in the interior came out perfect.
