SuperStockAndy Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Very cool, love these old F1 cars, will be watching.
ShawnS Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 I made one of those when they first came out. It's a fabulous kit but the main annoyance for me was fixing the windshield to the cowel. It will look great when you're done. Keep us posted.
Haubenschild Posted January 28, 2012 Author Posted January 28, 2012 Today I started assembling the engine , the engine block was painted with TS-17
Haubenschild Posted January 28, 2012 Author Posted January 28, 2012 Here are the fully primed body pieces , once again shot in my beautiful booth
Haubenschild Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 Here are the body pieces covered with 3 mist coats of british racing green
Haubenschild Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 (edited) Today I finnaly got my airbrush working , here are all the parts that were sprayed with alclad II chrome ( my first time using alclad ) Edited January 30, 2012 by Haubenschild
Haubenschild Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 Here are the fully painted body pieces . but unfortunatley i ran into some more paint issue's arghh
Haubenschild Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 Yes its tamiya paint , but it was my fault , I had the parts lined up too close togehther so there would be shadows on my parts making it hard to see where I sprayed
vwrabbit Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Ah. Been there, done that. Color looks great though! Tim
Haubenschild Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) Thanks! I just finished the motor , I lost one part that fits on the front ( but luckily its hidden by the rear cowl ) and painted the interior seat and steering wheel Edited January 31, 2012 by Haubenschild
Haubenschild Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 I got the decals on the front cowl . the kits decals really like to crack , Microsol liquid decal film is definatley needed
SuperStockAndy Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Looking good. You've inspired me to get yet another vintage Tamiya race car kit
Haubenschild Posted February 2, 2012 Author Posted February 2, 2012 I got the interior and rear suspension assembled along with adding the injector stacks and exhaust pipes . some areas may look black , that is because of the alclad , I handled it so much it started to rub off and it kinda gives it a worn look
Haubenschild Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 Since all the gauge decals cracked on me I decided to make the cockpit look a little more "interesting" so i sharpied the gauges and the center of the steering wheel
Haubenschild Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 (edited) I got all the decals on the top of the body laid down ,once again they were a pain in the arse and would not lay flat , and as you can notice there is a part of the decal missing... .which I am not happy about Edited February 3, 2012 by Haubenschild
W-409 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Is it possible to try fixing that decal with paint? Of course it must be really close the same shade of yellow, as that Decal. Really great job so far, can't wait to see it finished. Thanks for sharing this awesome build.
Haubenschild Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 Thanks niko! . Sadly I will not try to fix the decal with paint I just dont want to risk messing up my paint
SuperStockAndy Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Looking awesome! For that decal, why not take the one that goes in the cockpit? I'm sure nobody would notice it.
Haubenschild Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 The decal extends into the cockpit , I am ordering a new set of decals so maybe I can put a new one on that area
