Kitbash, Ford Bullitt and Saleen S281 Speedster *Update exhaust almost done*

I am doing a kitbash of these two kits.

I have an exaust problem. I want to use the Saleen exaust but it doesn't fit. I am thinking of cutting out the muffler and exaust tips of the Saleen (white exaust) and puttin them on the Bullitt exaust (Grey exaust). Will that work in real life?

Here is the Saleen exaust on the chassis. It doesn't fit very good...

That should work on this, may have to shorten the exhaust tips if anything. And in real life, this would be something that could be done, you're basically putting on an axle back exhaust kit. They sell those for the 2005 and newer mustangs.

That's ironic. I just looked at a '97 S281 Speedster a couple weeks ago. It was white with black graphics. A nice car with only 17K on it. A box in the garage fell damaging the hood, left fender and windshield. I'll have to keep an eye out for that kit.

I think with a little heat persuasion form a heat gun or hair dryer you could get the Saleen exhaust to fit if you really want it to. What is the ultimate goal of this build? A Saleen with the 2008 motor and parts or a 2008 with the Saleen motor?

I want to put the Saleen engine in the Mustang body. I will use the exaust combination, seats and etc. from the kits. No point really.

It would never work on the real cars. The Saleen is an SN-95 chassis, (modified Fox) and the '05-up is the S-197. The SN mufflers would be under the gas tank, which is why the newer car puts the mufflers at the back of the car.

why dont you just modify the mustang ones and cut and glue the saleen mufflers in to the mustang enhuast

Got some done. I cut off the muffler and mounts to the headers on the exhaust. Since I am using the Saleen SS351 engine (I know the box says S281, but the engine says S351) I have to use the header mounts from the Saleen exhaust. I cut the Bullitt Mustang mounts off and super glued the Saleen mounts on.

The muffler. I had to cut the Saleen exhaust into like 400 (exaggeration) pieces.

The mounts on the chassis were bondoed because I'm not using the original exhaust.

The steering wheel I plan to use. Not chrome, I will strip the chrome and paint black or the color of the interior.

Here's the body after a failed attempt to use primer. I used enamel primer on laquer paint. Wrinkled.

It spent a few hours in the purple pond, the white on the body is where I sanded it.

Try using dark grey or black primer under such a dark green topcoat, Lane. You'll get better coverage that way.

I'd also suggest you get the enigne in place and temporarily mounted so you can "connect" the exhaust system now.

i dont like seeing a hammer on a bench for plastic models hahha but the exhaust looks good, but i agree, mount the engine temporarily first and go from there
