Nick Winter Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Got this yesterday, it's the Original Release of the Street Machine kit, was just gonna restore it, but you know how that goes. as it sits or Still not decided on the wheels. deceided to go with the subdued looking Y-4 as apposed to one of the "High Impact" colors, this is my first time using PE still need to polish it out and foil it and such. Nick
1972coronet Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Loving it so far ! Perfect colour choice ; gold looks sweet on early 70's MoPar B & E bodies (certain A bodies ,too) . I don't know which set of wheels I like at this point in your progress ... Maybe once its interior and stripe combo will decide me (and you as well ...) .
Nick Winter Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 Actually John, I already Deceided that this is a stripe Delete car, no Bilboards or Hockey sticks, I just like the look of the Quarters too much, as for the interior thinking brown or the greeny looking gold that you could get in the vinyls. Nick
Chris guthro Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 black steelies nick!! it looks like project streetfighter on muscle car. nice paint man!
imatt88 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Nick, I just picked that same kit up today. Where did you get your rims?
Erik Smith Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 I like the gold with the black steel wheels - '70 RoadRunner wheels?
Casey Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 I like the color, but on my computer screens it comes across as more of a champagne color, but GY4 can vary quite a bit. Still one of my favorite Mopar colors, and it always looks good on E-bodies. I actually prefer this kit to the Hemi hardtop and 'vert versions, as I like the hood better, but the rear spoiler always seemed a bit too tall. The main drawback of building this kit is foiling the four fender gills- not fun.
Nick Winter Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 Thanks Everyone, Ian the wheels are Resin repops of the '70 RR wheels like Erik said, Casey in person it looks a bit darker, I'm not sure why it looks lighter in photo's, even now with it in front of me looking at the photo's it's darker in person. Nick
Nick Winter Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 Foiled the Center caps, still not sure if I'll use these wheels or the other, also not sure if I will foil the trim rings. as you can see when I removed the fog light the bumper broke, it was very brittle, porbably from it's age, so I'll have to fix that, I started on the grille, still need to foil some of it, did it like the cheaper style grille, and I removed all the power options on the car. Nick
crazyjim Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Nice looking paint. Keep postin' and I'll keep lookin'.
Nick Winter Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 Thanks Jim, Working on a trunk mounted Luggage Rack for it now. Nick
ChrisPflug Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 The "Barracuda" scripts on the doors look a bit "busy" with the 'cuda gills- probably why the 1:1 cars didn't use that arrangement
Nick Winter Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 Trunk Luggage Rack done. that shows the color closer to what it is also. Nick
Chris guthro Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 i like the rack nick! hopefully the burn from the gun was worth it hahah
imatt88 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Nick, The color looks good in the last set of pics. Who did the resin repops of your rims? I need a set of those.. Cheers, Ian
Nick Winter Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 Thanks Guys, I sent you a PM Ian. Nick
Floridian Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 love the cuda.... if you dont mind me asking where did you get the wheels from?
Nick Winter Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Wheels are resin repops of the '70 Roadrunner kit wheels. anyway, trying to wrap this one up. Added brake and Fuel lines to the chassis Started finishing the 440 (have to paint the filter still and add the decal) Nearly done the interior, still need to add seat belts and glue in the dash Finished Dash (replaced the sterring wheel with the one from the Revell 25th scale Challenger, was much more detailed) Nick
jaydar Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 (edited) I like the color, but on my computer screens it comes across as more of a champagne color, but GY4 can vary quite a bit. Still one of my favorite Mopar colors, and it always looks good on E-bodies. I had a '72 Challenger inY4. I am putting it on a '70 Challenger for old time sake. It won't be the same but i don't think there is a '72 Challenger body available in 1/24 . Joe Edited February 26, 2012 by jaydar
Nick Winter Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 gotta finsih the BMF and interior. Nick
