Prailone Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 hey guys, This is my first time posting here and this is my third model I have ever built. I have alot to work on but they are getting visably better! any specific feedback is appreciated and welcomed I found this kit just laying around the house and decided to start building it. I wanted to try something different this time around first the biggest difference was that i was going to use two colours instead of just one. This seemed like a cool idea and it came out really nice I think. The next thing i wanted to do different was to put the ignition wires in. I did not want to buy a kit so i used some heat shrink tubing and just wireing. it was a huge pain to say the least but it came out better than i had expected and im happy with it. the scale of the wire is off but its a first time for some pictures as i slowly move along updates will probably be slow as im in school and working so i work on this with the little spare time i have.
carchub Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Lookin' good! I like the paint scheme so far. I'm on my third model as well, and I am also trying more than one color =D
diymirage Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 looks good to me there are a few little places left with room for improvement but so do my builds as a mather of fact, the first engine i wired looked like it had radiator hoses for plugwires its good you not afraid to try new things and im sure your models will only keep on getting better my only advise would be not to be afraid to ask for advise as you go along
Prailone Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 (edited) thanks for the comments guys things are moving along nicely i have wired the distributer to the engine and put it in the frame for a test fit i like how it looks so far. Some details on the interior and putting the rear end and from bumper on then i should be nearing the end im excited! Edited February 18, 2012 by Prailone
stulee11 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 looking very good so far mate... if i may just a few little tips...1 on the ignition wires try using (30 gage) wire its a bit more in scale to the engine ...2 when your doing more then 1 colour, once you've laid down the masking tape , give it a slight dusting over with clear coat prior to the next colour , this will help stop the "paint bleed" under the tape . hope you dont take offence she is looking killer for your 3rd kit. keep up the good work and welcome to this fantastic forum stu
Prailone Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 thank you for the advice i was wonder what awg wire to buy ill rember that for next time and ill try the clear coat for sure almost there glued the interior, to the body and have the frame in just painting the back of the wheels then it will be done i had alot of trouble glueing the front bumper to the frame any tips?
stulee11 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 looking good mate ... is this the "revell 2 in 1 " kit ???
Prailone Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 ya, it is a pretty nice kit. I just didn't like how the front bumer had to go on, it seemed like there was no good place to glue it.
stulee11 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Yeah i had the problem with the whole front end lol . Took me a while to get the front end to stick right . But your making good progress mate
Duntov Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Claudio: Thanks for posting this.... you are making great progress on build #3..... be sure to try the tips that Stu suggested....they work really well.... you are doing great and it is good to have you posting your work here!!!! Keep us up to date on your progress.... Regards Bill (Duntov)
diymirage Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 you know, getting things like the front end to fit nicely is a real trick on some models the way i usually go about it is to ask the question "what can i glue to the body while still being able to put the frame in?" specially rear roll pans are often hit or miss when it comes to being able to put the frame in in this particular case i would have glued the front clip to the body and applied some bondo and smoothed the whole thing out before painting it now, there are plenty of models i build that make me say "man, i should have done this or that" but i wanna say i get better with each model, and so will you
DANB Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 when your doing more then 1 colour, once you've laid down the masking tape , give it a slight dusting over with clear coat prior to the next colour , this will help stop the "paint bleed" under the tape . stu Great tip! im sure that will come in handy for my next model ahaha Awsome color choice here too.
Dirkpitt289 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 This is a great kit and you're doing well with it. It's ashame about the front clip although its not to lat to attempt a repair if you want. Of course like Dan said it can also be chucked up as a learning experience. I look forward to seeing more of the build
Prailone Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 thanks for all the tips guys i put the finishing touches on over the course of this week and its all done and I'm happy with it pictures coming soon
Jantrix Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Turned out pretty good. The spark plug wires are too large, but I gotta say it looks miles better than some of my first models.
RoadRunner1083 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 (edited) Those wheels look slick! How did you do them? Marker? Edited February 24, 2012 by RoadRunner1083
comp1839 Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 for only your third build i am quite impressed with the fore thought to color coordinate the engine, the stripe and the wheels. good job!
Dirkpitt289 Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 The wheels look cool as hell. Looks like they are lit up
