DrBbody Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Hey guys, I recently got back into modeling after being "out of the loop" for a few year(15 to be exact) and to be honest I am amazed at the leaps and bounds this hobby has taken in my absence. I remember using sewing thread for spark plug wires, and you could buy any type of glue you wanted as long as it was Testors in the orange tube LOL. Now I see we have all kinds of new fangledy gidgits and gadgets available to us. I'm hoping to learn some new techniques from some of the more seasoned builders as well as find some inspiration here as I slowly get back into this hobby.
moparmagiclives Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Welcome back !!! Take a seat, take notes but don't take things to seriously... There are a ton amazing builders here, and a bunch of stuff to learn everyday. It's a great place to grow.
DrBbody Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 Thanks for the welcome back. It will take me awhile to get back in the swing of things, especially with all of the newer techniques and goodies.
crazyjim Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Welcome back to modeling, Jonathan. Go through the under glass and/or WIPS. Plenty of inspiration there. Don't be shy about asking questions either. Lots of people here are more than willing to try and help.
Guest Jethro Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Welcome Doctor! Im knew hear to. This is a great palce! Go straight to the truck sectoin for things to look at.
sjordan2 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Also, go down the page to Tips, Tricks and Tutorials, plus "How Do I..." For some of the more recent basics, go here: http://www.italianhorses.net/Tutorials/tutorials.htm
Old Sprinter Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Jonathan, just buy some styrene sheet and tube of CA glue and you're living. Create anything you can think of, with a little practice. Best part is that it's fun. I hope you enjoy what ever you build. Ken
