jcbigpaw Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I recently needed to dig up or create a set of lenses for some headlights on a build I was doing. My wife was working on a scrapbook for a friend that just came back from Hawaii and had these "rain drop" stickers she was using. Even though they are tinted, the smaller ones were perfect for the lights I was working on. All I needed was a drop of clear glue to hold it in place.
Len Woodruff Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Very neat idea! Do they come in clear?
jcbigpaw Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 My wife said they do come in clear as well.
Ragnar Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Great Tip, I will look for some of these! Thank you for posting it!
Big Daddy Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Joseph you should try this stuff it's great my wife is big into card making/scrapbooking and gave me this to try and it's great , you just pour it into your headlight pan and let it dry (couple of hours ) you can get it at micheals
jcbigpaw Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 I will have to pick it up and try it. Thanks for the tip
Big Daddy Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 if your going to try it , it will go on cloudy but will dry clear in a few hours, put a bit more than you would want in the pan cause it does shrink a bit, i just did a 66 nova and used it and it turned out real good
Terry Sumner Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 "Glue" in clear lenses with Future and it will be nice and clear!
Len Woodruff Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Terry what is the "dry" time for Future when you use it as "glue"?
Terry Sumner Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 A few hours but for absolute dry...24 hours. But they come out crystal clear! I glue in my windshields and other clear parts with Future also. And it makes a great medium for laying down decals. No air underneath so no silvering. I just don't care for it as a topcoat.
wraith Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Very good ideas here. everyone should post some finished pics of their headlight tricks!
Kennyboy Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 I used some inexpensive LED bulbs from Radio Shack on my Corvette build
sjordan2 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 You can also use googly eyes (used for making stuffed toy eyes) by removing the backing and eyeball plastic. They come in a mixed bag with a multitude of sizes, available at Hobby Lobby.
ChrisBcritter Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Is Mod Podge Dimensional Magic the same thing as the Inkssentials Glossy Accents? I saw the MP stuff at Michaels and I was thinking about using it along with aluminum foil molds to cast headlight lenses.
