vwrabbit Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 Thanks Brian, Doc and C Betts. Greatly appreciate all of the comments! I think this one warrants a nice shiny coat of something to help it really stand out. For some reason, UPS brown is asking to be used on this one. I have some Folk Art Coffee Bean acrylic that would fit the bill. Tim
jerseyjunker1 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 sweet build i love the way the cab roof is formed. i want to see it finished yea
vwrabbit Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 Thanks Manny! Hope to get it done this week for an upcoming show this weekend! Tim
vwrabbit Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 Color coat on. Wasn't sure if I'd like the brown. After some Future to shine it up, I think it'll look good. Need to get the bed sprayed tomorrow. Tim
CanadianKronik Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 This thing is really good inspiration, i might convert a few old car bodys into custom pickups.
Joker Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 The brown works for me.. Then conversion is rolling along nice.
darquewanderer Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 The progress is looking good. I'm going to be watching this one.
vwrabbit Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Thanks guys! Future is on. Might need another coat. Old paint lines are showing through in a few spots as I didn't strip it. Hoped the sanding between primer coats would have done it. So will most likely try to make it look like a DIY garage rod as opposed to a shop rod with flawless finish. Will get pictures later. Karate testing now, so won't be home for a while.
1320wayne Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Nice project. It's always hard to decide what to do with a 41 Plymouth and I think you nailed it.
JasonFL Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 This thing is sick, can't wait to see it all finished up
vwrabbit Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 Thanks Wayne and Jason. Greatly appreciated! Working on sanding out, hopefully for the last time, putty on the rear fenders. Then get the bed in color and clear early tomorrow and hopefully together for the most part for a show and contest on Sunday. Tim
vwrabbit Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 Latest update. Had to strip the brown. Wasn't looking so hot. Only had black primer, so that's how it sits now. Also got these resin whitewalls in a trade w/other stuff with Danny (85gt4bbl302). The wheels are from the Monogram 55 Ford Panel. Had to sand the outside edge to get them to fit inside. Still need a little work to fit perfectly. This one is a little dark... Thanks, Tim
wraith Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 She looks liike a cruiser! I kinda like the flat black look!
CorvairJim Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 This thing is looking great! Looks to me like something that Plymouth really could have sold back in the day.
vwrabbit Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Thanks guys! I was going for a stock look for this conversion. Wonder if anyone would like to make a resin copy? :-) Will most likely keep it flat black while I finish everything else and save color for last. Keeping it flat is tough if its to be handled/moved much. Tim
Bartster Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 This thing is looking great! Looks to me like something that Plymouth really could have sold back in the day. ......I agree Jim. This is better looking than the pickup they sold in '41!
