BOSWELL891 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Ok guys after seeing a lot of cool semi builds lately I want to build my first one so what would be a good kit to get that isn't real expense and goes together good, I've been thinking about the Amt diamond reo or white road boss but I'm not sure how difficult those might be so any suggestions would be helpful.
metalhead Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Revell's Peterbilt and Kenworth kits are real good starter kits. They were originally snap together kits, but with a little drilling of the holes, you can just use normal glue. I have built the Peterbilt 359 and I'm working on my second KW W900. With a little test fitting and drilling out the previously mentioned holes, they go together really well. RYAN.
Wagoneer81 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 What he^^^^ said. Either the Pete 359 or the W900 would be a good one for a first-timer. They go together pretty quickly, easily and build into a good looking truck. That and the fact that they're around $22.00- $25.00 retail, they're not real expensive either.
camaro73 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I would have to agree with the above. I built my W900 first before I tackled the tougher builds. It was a very simple build. The trailer was a little harder.
bandit1 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 yep....again what he said^^^^^^....one thing though...not sure about the kwhopper or whether revell fixed it ...but the tires are ###### unless you severly mod them.....and the lips are a PITA!
tooltas Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 i did the revell pete its a good kit for us that dont built trucks all the time the lonestar is not for a first timer semi truck builter
Jim B Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I agree as well. The Revell USA Kenworth W900 or Peterbilt 359 are great kits to "get started" with truck modeling. They fit together well, and look nice when completed. They are also pretty accurate. The AMT kits tend not to fit together very well sometimes, and can be quite frustrating.
scale trucker Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 x2 what everybody said..then move on to the road boss or reo..
BOSWELL891 Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 Ok thanks for the help guys I think I am going to build one of the petes
