GrandpaMcGurk Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Here's a an update on the Zonker....... Rear drum brakes, brake lines and upper shock mounts are are in, oil pan, some yeller paint on the frame and so on. Next up.....shocks, panhard bar and humongous slicks with wide whites.....it just never ends, seems like every time I finish one bit...I need something else.....no matter, it's all fun and it keeps me at home where the old woman can keep an eye on me.
GrandpaMcGurk Posted May 4, 2012 Author Posted May 4, 2012 Thanks guys......it's a lot of yellow for sure. Made some shocks from scrap tubing.
GrandpaMcGurk Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Started on the front suspension...... I slipped a piece of aluminum tubing ( for strength) inside some plastic tubing for the front axle. Laminated & clamped some scrap plastic together with M.E.K to form a rough spindle mount. Here's a pic of one of the axle ends filed down & primed with the roughed out other side for comparison. I guess it's time to fab some spindles & disc brake rotors........
GrandpaMcGurk Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Dang.......I'm glad I only have to do 2 of these rotors (they're metal), still have more holes to drill, add studs for the rims and a lot of clean up - polishing to do on 'em.
Davewilly Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 this is toooo cool....cant wait to see more of it!
GrandpaMcGurk Posted December 13, 2012 Author Posted December 13, 2012 Made some running changes...working IFS & steering, giggle gas etc. Here's a couple of mock-ups.....
Ira Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 AMAZING BUILD!!! This is really Wild Don! Great Detailing too...
Dyno Davo Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Don, every progress picture has bought a big smile to my face, this build is stunning, innovative, imaginative and quality plus mate. This what modeling is all about in my opinion, fun, fun and more fun.
mysterj1 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I think this has got to qualify as the award winner in the "Most Fun" category! Zonker Power!
GrandpaMcGurk Posted March 8, 2013 Author Posted March 8, 2013 Marshall, I haven't had a lot of time to tinker with this car lately, but there will be an update as soon as I get the body in paint (day glow yellow) & the lettering done on the rear meats.
crazyjim Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Aw come on, Don. Just tell 'em that you never finish a build. LOL. And my truck could use a washing, too.
