Kaleb Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Whats the best way to sand it and polish? I've never done candy and I have some dark spots on it and want to get them out.
LoneWolf15 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 They aren't going to come out , my friend ! Painting with candies is tough and this is one of the reasons why . You can always try going over it with a darker colored candie , otherwise , you'll have to strip it and start over . In the future , be sure that you paint is throughly mixed ! The dark spots are created by pigment spits , straining your paint through a nylon stocking will help prevent this .
Kaleb Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 An ok, well what do I need to do about wet sanding it? And clear?
LoneWolf15 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Try to wet sand it , you have nothing to lose at this point . Look at it as practice , if the spots won't go away , you'll just have to strip it and start again .
Kaleb Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 True, now it's just patience because I have to wait at least 48 hours for it to cure.
Kaleb Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 Just for reference for others looking at this.
Kaleb Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 Ok thank you, it really doesn't look that bad from a distance. I may just sand it and move on. I'll see what I feel like after 48 hours.
vintagestang Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I used that same paint and it came out with horrible orange peel but I fixed most of that.
LoneWolf15 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 After looking at the pictures , my opinion would be to strip it and start over again !
Kaleb Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 Blah, well I tried lol. I need to get some dot3 or something mean green isn't doing the job anymore.
Greg Busby Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I only use spray Clear the Candy paint I use I airbrush on
Terry Sumner Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Blah, well I tried lol. I need to get some dot3 or something mean green isn't doing the job anymore. Douse it in good old EasyOff oven cleaner. The original stuff not the new odorless variety. It stinks but it'll take that stuff off.
