Wagoneer81 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 The title says it all. I started this for the first Dr.Cranky 3 day build but Vertigo literally floored me on the last day and it didn't get finished. Now, here it is, in all it's glory! I did this one with a few mild custom touches, red frame and engine, left out the white on the dash, etc... Corvette purists, please forgive me... The paint is Testors One Shot White Pearl. In my scale world it only rains when the convertibles are under cover so I didn't finish the top. This was the first time I have EVER used BMF and I have to say that I like it! I did the side spears and patched some of the chrome where Monogram, in their infinite wisdom, placed the tabs on the VISIBLE side of the chrome pieces... (Yes, we've had that discussion before...) I DO welcome constructive criticism, I've been building for 33 years and know that you are never too old to learn something new. I also learned that the camera hides nothing... Now, having said that, I see a red frame stub that needs bent up to connect with the pushbar... don't worry, I'll get it!
rv1963 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I like it very well done i like the color of the engine matching the interior it looks better this way than the factory blue they came in.
Jdurg Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Looks fantastic. The nice thing about the '53 is that it's nearly impossible to make it look ugly. I like the red color of the frame in contrast to the black underside. I know it's not factory stock, but it looks really good there. Got to love any Corvette out there.
Casey Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Looks nice, and is a good example of how '70s and '80s Monogram kits can look when nicely finished.
Guest Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Very nice. Chris, I had vertigo as well. My doctor referred me to a place called the Dizziness and Balance center. They did some physical therapy, moving my head in certain directions, etc, and it gotr rid of my vertigo. You should look into it. Vertigo can and usually is caused by displacement of small crystals in the inner ear.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Wonderful, Chris. You added another nice model to your collection.
