I need some custom and scratchbuilding ideas for the 1969 Carger I am working on. I have already started making side pipe but I need more. And it will be a junker.

Patrick, normally those two words never go together--if you don't believe me, ask Crazy Jim--custom and junker.

Nothing beats a well-weathered and worn junker. Good luck with it, and do post pictures of your progress.

You can remove two wheels on one side and have it be sitting up on blocks.

well, since it a custom junker, heres the idea, what if the car was wrecked and they started rebuilding it and this is where the custom comes in ?

the front end was wrecked so it got replaced, but they could only find a grille from a 68

maybe they could only find a set of fenders from a superbee ?

you get the idea

You mean like someone built the car as a custom back in the day, and then was discovered in a barn just rotting away?

Eelco, that's the idea. A kid found it in a guys back yard and bought it. He was going to do a resto-rod but he ran out of money. So far I have built 1 side pipe and the passenger door and trunk will be primered with chips and red showing through. The rest of the body will be Hemi Orange with chips and black showing through. I replaced the kit air cleaner with on from a 1970 Boss 429 and painted it Ford engine blue. I also scratch built a magnetos. I will black was the engine.

Crusty custom? Maybe something along these lines?

That was the concept behind this Merc- it was an old custom that had been done back in the '50's, got wrecked, sat for a while, and got patched back together just well enough to be a dependable cruiser.
