monkeyclaw Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 This one is Finally coming along....Getting near completion, using my own resin conversion on the original Tamiya CB kit....still have to do the individual link chain; and finish up adding the rest of the widgets.... Made the 4 into 1 header from evergreen stock, the oil cooler is P/E and copper, Braided lines, Made the clip ons from evergreen stock as well....Almost there........Matt
Sixties Sam Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Looks great, Matt! Nice work on those pipes - must have taken a lot of time and patience to get the bends right! The green looks good on it! Sam
monkeyclaw Posted March 9, 2012 Author Posted March 9, 2012 Sam; Thanks.... FINALLY figured out that bending just doesn't work....Lots of little "fishmoutn" cuts; then zapped back together to get the bend....took a couple tries; but I got it figured out....pretty happy with the result...just need to get some paint on the pipes ....I'll be glad to get this one done.........Matt
Romell R Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Man thats very nice , you should post more pics of this one. I think I remember you starting this one about a year ago am I correct? I could be wrong.
Prostreet Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Great looking bike, I really like the cafe racers.
monkeyclaw Posted March 10, 2012 Author Posted March 10, 2012 Thanks guys; I started the masters for the resin conversion last year; Finally getting to build one! I will have more pix uploaded on my site shortly....This is the 1st version I will be doing; later this year I will be doing a different tank and seat combo to fit the Honda CB kits..................Matt
bbsbase Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Yeah, I like it like that. And I like to see more pics of the beauty. How did you made the air cleaner for the carbs? Which material did you use for them? Nice color ! I still have a wrecked CB 750 that´s waiting to turned in something like the "Wrenchmonkeys" built in real. I hope to see more of this bike soon
monkeyclaw Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Ulrich; Thanks! The Tank/seat-tail, and air cleaners are my own resin castings, as are the flanges for the exhaust. The frame is the tamiya frame; but has been modified heavily to eliminate all of the mounting holes and pads for all the stock kit parts. The new oil tank is made from evergreen stock, as is the exhaust, clip-ons, and re-location tray under seat for all the electrics....this bike would be "kick-only", so there are less widgets uber there...along with a smaller battery.....Oil cooler is P/E and copper....braided lines are detail master...You can see more pix on my site www.monkeyclawmodels.com Thanks for looking guys..............Matt
plasticbutcher Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Matt that is one sweet looking bike, makes me want to start on mine again
monkeyclaw Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Rick; Thanks! Hope all is well out there for you....Trying to get this one finished up.....I will be doing several more variations on the CB-750 as well..........Matt
monkeyclaw Posted March 18, 2012 Author Posted March 18, 2012 (edited) Here's the finished bike! Got it out in the sun for some decent pix.......Matt Edited April 6, 2012 by monkeyclaw
bbsbase Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 It´s a real beauty. The more I look at it, the more detail I found that is made from scratch. Great job on this bike.
Sixties Sam Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I would swear that was a real bike in those photos! Great job on this Honda! Sam
plasticbutcher Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Matt, that turned out great, I thought you were showing us a 1/1 Thank you for the eye candy
monkeyclaw Posted March 31, 2012 Author Posted March 31, 2012 Thanks to all for the comments & kind words! It was nice to get this one done; I mastered the parts last year; and never got the chance to have the prototype build up done. Doing the build allowed me the opportunity to figure out the rest of the widgets for the resin conversion; like the clip-ons and rearsets, and I will be adding the clip-ons to the set for sure; and perhaps the same type of headlamp molded woth a single instrument...trying to keep the resin sets simple; so that any modeler of average skill can use the resin parts as direct fit replacements on the kits.....Now.... On to version TWO cafe tank and seat combo!!! Matt
