sportandmiah Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Here's a project that I work on a little bit every morning before I go to work. I really like this Le Mans version, but the kit itself is very basic. So I've added some additions and scratchbuilt a few items along the way. i want to CF decal the center console, so I removed the buttons, sanded, sprayed Mr Surfacer, and smoothed out. This will allow me to apply the CF decal, and I will add new buttons and switches later.
sportandmiah Posted March 11, 2012 Author Posted March 11, 2012 I added Cf decals to some parts of the body, as well as the engine and engine bay parts. Not easy stuff to work with, but nice to look at when done. I scratchbuilt the wire connectors out of styrene tubing. Again, not easy drilling holes is something thinner that a toothpick.
sportandmiah Posted March 11, 2012 Author Posted March 11, 2012 Scratchbuilt the Driver side impact box..will connect to the driver side roll cage. CF decals added to the front of car.
martinfan5 Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Coming along very nice there Doug, I have been wanting get this kit as well, you are right it is basic, does it have an engine?
Scuderia Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 The C5-R in the Fellows/ Earnhardt kit seemed to have a lot more parts, and was tricky to put together. Mine is half done, you're doin a bang up job on this one.
sportandmiah Posted March 11, 2012 Author Posted March 11, 2012 TY fellas. The engine...what you see is what it came with...not much.
martinfan5 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 These are the times that I dont understand what Revell is thinking, the CR5 vette that just got released has full engine detail with a one piece body, this kit, looks like the hood opens, but has just the top part of the engine. Just seems weird to me they do things like that.
Scuderia Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 yeah that new Compuware kit looks hot, I'm gonna pick one up eventually. It's got the guts of the original C5's from the early 2000's, much more detail.
Len Woodruff Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Love these C6-R Corvette. I have done this car using the Bad Boy decals.
JHDrew Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Great kit you will have a good time with it. I also did the Bad Boy version. I made all these decals prior to the aftermarket ones that were issued.
sportandmiah Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Very cool fellas. Fell free to post some close shots of ur interiors. Im always looking for inspiration!
elan Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Nice work! Does this "Bad Boys Decals" have a website?
