My second build that I had a little more patience with than my first build that turned into a glue bomb with finger prints and a horrible paintjob. I made my first attempt at wiring the engine in this thing, too. It's my own touch of custom, every thing is out of the box except the engine wiring. Let me know what you guys think and any ideas you have to help me get better at this.

Top view. Started with a flat black base coat then 2 thin coats of graphite dust and 3 thin coats of clear wet look. For it only being my 2nd paint job ever I'm pretty pleased with it even though there are mistakes.

I didn't add the mirrors, I panted them but just didn't like the way the looked on the car.

I wish I knew how to do the red, white, and blue on the mustang logo on the grille....it was just too small.

I also left off the license plates and reverse lights because I didn't like them. Although I think I'll add the rear license plate.

I did the best I could at detailing the interior, pretty much just painted the insets on the dash silver and part of the seat patterns silver with the red handle on the shifter.

My first shot at wiring a motor....I know it's horrible, but I've gotta start somewhere.

For my 2nd ever build, I'm pleased. Can't wait to start my 3rd model: 71 Hemi Cuda

Thanks for looking, please comment with any tips or let me know what you think, help, advice, anything.

Thanks, I really enjoy doing it. Just wish I was as skilled as some of the people on here. I think for my 4th build I'm gonna try AMT's 1978 Dodge Warlock but not do the Lil' Red Express...satin black with a Viper engine in it, kind of like a sleeper....but I'm afraid doing such a task is far beyond my knowledge and skill level.

a the very well done to you mate... for your 2nd model i dont think you could ask for better... there aint nothing wrong with that engine so i dont see why you say it horrible??? we all start somewhere so every kit is a learning curve even for the masters they are still learning!!! i personally am lookin forward to what your next build is... the only one thing i can say is try to use thinner wire for the ignition them ones look a little out of scale but thats it .

Best advice I can give you is just to pace yourself, don't go too crazy and rush your builds just to see them completed, I think it's always the hardest thing to master when you are first starting out. Try your hand at simpler models and work your way up from there, in time I will guarantee you your skills will get much better.

Not too shabby, Charles. You need smaller ignition wires. Several aftermarket suppliers have nice selections. I usually get mine from Scale Dreams.

Charles, don't fret the little stuff; you're building great so far. for those small emblems, don't use a brush, use a toothpick. it'll carry just enough paint and won't smoosh out getting it all over. don't fret about leaving off stuff you don't like or think looks right, either; a lot of stuff doesn't eyeball correctly even in scale. get some good reference photos, plan out your colors, and have fun, more than anything.

nice Boss, BTW!

This is a very nice build for your second build.

Your skills will improve with every build.

You said the first one was in bad shape and you pointed out the problems with it.

And you overcame those mistakes with your second one.

Skills 101/ Mistakes learned and corrected.

You are already doing one thing that can be a great help to you in self evaluating your work....taking pictures! It's amazing what you can see when you view pictures of your models! The good and the bad become glaringly apparent!

Thanks guys, i really appreciate all of your comments on this. It makes me feel a lot better about it. I can't wait until I finish my third project. It's a 71 Hemi Cuda, I'm going to try and do it more of a Pro-touring style and do a little bit of custom work it inside and out. Hope it turns out while and is finished in the next couple of weeks. I'll be posting some progress of it in the "on the workbench" forum either today or tomorrow.
